As you get older pain avoidance is impossible, so pleasure seeking becomes a high priority.

Couldn't have said it any better than Mo just did...but then there is a thin line between pleasure and pain...so I have heard.

The older I get, the less pain bothers me, and the more I know what gives me real pleasure.

IMO more likely to seek pleasure and take advantage of all the pleasure we can; also more likely to have less pain romantically-since pain should decrease with each lesson learned, and each respective relationship should improve. In other aspects, yes pain is unavoidable so a person makes the most pleasure that they can.

...seek pleasure or do we become more inclined to avoid pain?

Pain is the only reminder I have that I'm still alive sometimes. Pleasure is a reminder that I still exist. They both work in equal parts.

Hmmm...interesting question. drinker

When I was young, I sought pleasure that had a high degree of possibility for pain. For instance, cliff jumping on hot summer days. If you screw up and slap the water, you're hurting. But back then I was able to bounce back quickly so I didn't care. bigsmile

Now that I'm older, I seek the kind of pleasure that avoids pain. For instance, now I cool off by wading in a kiddie pool with floaties on, just in case I slip and knock myself unconscious. laugh

Guess that puts me in the avoid pain category although I still seek pleasure. I just seek less risky pleasure.ohwell

I would have to say seek pleasure. Want as much pleasure as I can abtain before they lay me in the ground where pleasure is done once and for all. And at times when seeking that pleasue I get the pain of the adventure. Sometimes its worth the pain, and sometimes not. A risk I have to take. And as I get older, and know that my years left on this earth is dwiddling down I seem to grab whatever pleasure may come my way. Giving only little thought of the pain I may have to indure to gain if only for a fleeting momemt of that pleasue. Oh yes, To feel my heart beat at a more than normal beat, if it only be for a short period of time.

Pleasure seeker here.....pain comes of its own accord. Like the unseen lego block waiting silently in the darkness of the night, just biding its time till an unwary bare foot plops down on it enrought to the 2a.m. Pee pee run.
