 I agree, a child is so MUCH more than us, if anything that is what they should be taught! Taught how special they truly are..not that they are not equal because they are small, and young. What kind of thinking is that anyway...

I actually do understand the justification in "the difference between hitting and spanking" mentality...believe it or not.
I'm thinking my relationship with a man will be very different than with my sons..so it's really a moot point here

I actually do understand the justification in "the difference between hitting and spanking" mentality...believe it or not. I'm thinking my relationship with a man will be very different than with my sons..so it's really a moot point here Sorry but that really was a contradiction....it's not about it being your b/f or child...it's the intent you have when doing it....I don't walk up to my daughter and PUNCH HER OUT...don't be ridiculous...but if my daughter's behavior warrants a spanking, than she knows IN ADVANCE that she's getting one....and it's on her fatty behind...and she bends over for it...because she has been trained WELL!!!! Good for you for not having ever spanked your children...lmao...they picked weird women who will do it for them   and fyi...I don't make MOOT points!

I think theres a BIG difference between "HITTING" your child & "SPANKING" your child! really? What's the difference..isn't a "spank" a "hit"? oh ya???? here is YOUR post....you said that a spank & a HIT was the same... THEY ARE NOT...... and NOW....you say that you see the differnce in the two!

That hardly justifies your general comment about them. Maybe you should get to know me better before calling me hostile..go over some of my posts from months back or something. I am not a hostile person...I will however state my thoughts in this forum as I always have and I will defend myself to those who make generalizations about me or my sons. We will not agree on this issue..does not mean either of us are right or wrong, just that we believe and live differently.. |

ok, lets throw a different perspective on this since there are 2 threads going on this same thoughts. My sons are 25, 18, and 15. I don't spank, hit, never have, never will. My boys date girls that hit them..these girls have been hit their entire lives and the minute something goes wrong they want to hit and they are shocked that my boys don't engage in this behavior. I have gotten to know most of these girls quite well and they do have issues, they feel it is natural to hit, it's what they know, it's what their use to. They are also for the most part potheads and drinkers ( activities my boys don't engage in, at least the two younger ones) and have "daddy issues". From getting to know many of these young girls, it's fair to say they DO have issues from being hit. I realize I'm generalizing here..I'm only going on my experiences. Makes it hard for a nice young man who has been taught to be a pacifist to find a decent girlfriend.. having been an adolescent counselor dealing with these issues...men don't usually choose women who are abusive unless they have issues themselves....but then again, I guess we all do, just some are in denial....and yes, I do make mistakes with my daughter at times, but for the most part I listen to other's perspectives and have tried it all to find out what work for me and her!
