I, personally, don't need an apology. He made the choice to make the public apology. He didn't have to

Tiger Woods is a 'GOLFER'!!!

Uses a stick, swings, hits, follows-through, and sinks balls in the fewer hits possible.

What the heck is wrong with this society of ours, where we would expect A GOLFER to behave as though he were the second coming of Christ.

'****in scumbag' you say!!!

You mean, just like millions of other american sticks, committing adultery every day, everywhere in the US of A, never having to give public account of their deed?!?!?! The double standard is a pathetic joke on all of us.

If we as a people weren't such hypocrites, Tiger Woods would simply be the great golfer that he is, and the rest would be between him, his wife, and his family members.

He didn't " create " any image.

The ad agencies did that.

Now yer gonna get all irritated because he did something that millions of men do every single day. Ya don't see them basically being forced to publicly speak about it. Event though it might cut down on it if dudes actually knew that they WOULD have to if caught...lol

That's pretty hilarious.

millions of men might have affairs but, from what it sounds like, tiger did much more than just have an affair, and it's something for which he needs therapy.

however you all might disagree with me, i think that major sport stars have a certain image to uphold with the public, especially the young folk, who hold them in great esteem and aspire to be like them. what he did was not necessarily illegal but it was unethical and immoral, according to my standards and i think people should be allowed to think he's a creep, without someone telling them that they are wrong.

i have no sympathy for him.

what a mess. but he is definitely doing the right thing to *try*
to correct it. it is better to apologize to his fans and sponsors
and seek help through therapy for his own sake and for the good
of his family than to simply do nothing. the nature of his public
profession requires a public apology.

this is just the first step. but it was a step he had to take if
he was going to move in the right direction.

it is a no win situation for himself and his family but neither is
it hopeless with no prospect for improvement. just a shame.

Just sorry that I heard anything much about him and his 'situation'. Don't think of it as newsworthy, useful or important info for me to know.

Feel badly for those who would benefit from his sincerity, though. It must be hellish for all involved to have it shoved in their faces repeatedly...like picking a scab.

Feel badly for him. too, in a way. Since he was apparently able to minimize the value of many people for a significant length of time, his wife included, he's missed out on developing a truly valuable relationship on any level with anyone. That is kind of sad.

wow, Im agreeing with voli and justaguy!!

What he said covered all basis, basically(and im paraphrasing here) 'Im sorry, I was wrong . My wife is nothing but wonderful, I love my family and let down my loved ones. It wont happen again.'

It was nothing complicated, nothing I have ANY reason to believe he didnt write himself and Nothing much left to say after that, I certainly dont feel there is anything else he needs to say(and didnt need to say that to us in my opinion).

I think its strange that so many think character can be assumed because someone has a popular talent. And its even stranger that we condone the media frenzy about this family's very painful and personal situation. I hope noone truly believes this man comes CLOSE to being an exception amongst famous men when it comes to fidelity. Even those other celebrities though, dont usually apologize for their infidelities to a nation of strangers in a press conference. I have no reason to believe he wasnt sincere but I think the whole thing was FAR above and beyond what a reasonable person should expect from him, even a fan like me. The whole circus amazes me really.

Tiger should be revered for his golfing,, few of us know ANY athlete well enough to revere their character. If he was out in public acting like a fool, that would be different. All we can go on and all our children see is how people conduct themself in public.
But we don't know(and shouldnt know in my opinion)what people do behind closed doors. I sure am not gonna sit my kids center row to watch me and my lover or partner either. That is private, behind closed doors and very different than the example I set in front of them. Tiger sets a good public example, that the media sprayed his private business all over the news is not his responsibility.

My family, the kids in my family, think he is an AWESOME athelete and aspire to be as good an athlete as he is. None of the kids in my family are looking to athletes on a screen as character models and its maybe a sad part of our society that we are raising some children to do so.

I feel what he said was sufficient, it really is between he and his loved ones , a PRIVATE affair thats none of our business really. If he continues to be an awesome golfer, he has done what I expect and have always expected.

The loss from his pocket book is telling.
Seemed VERY insincere.

Play you PAY.

It was stupid that they televised it.

It isn't any of our business.
