I don't think anyone is really saying she deserved it. Just for me, in the three years being on this site alone. I heard this store all to many times. It starts out. I went to a bar

Ah, yeah, different generations can be hung up on stupid chit. Me and my mom go back and forth about some stuff that is normal to me and she thinks I'm from another planet. I'm glad she has you to stand up for her. My mother wasn't like that growing up though. She didn't become this until she got remarried (when I was in high school) and I have pointed out to my mom that she is the last person to be casting stones Sorry Jill....wasn't meaning to derail the thread....I was just trying to make a point about assuming |

well..off the cuff..have you spoken to your mother about said behavior? face to face? why do they act like that? it most surely isnt good for the niece...at all. well if you knew anything about me, then you would know I don't bite my tongue often Yes...I have let them know (calmly and then not so calmly) about it. My "step dad" is a control freak and it has to be his way or nothing. My niece is living with them while she is in college right now. They go through her closets and drawers and has even followed her when she is going to a friend's house, because they have told her they don't trust her. I trust my niece more than I trust myself. She is the good girl of the family. My niece has low self esteem because they make her feel bad just because of her style of clothes. So ANYONE that thinks about saying (if something happened to her) that she deserved it because of her style....needs to think again well if you knew anything about me, then you would know I don't bite my tongue often
lmao yeah im getting that, but thats a Good thing anyways. on the niece, she needs to boot out to an apt,friends,something..that whole scene just sounds wrong. |

I went to a bar I don't drink so I don't frequent bars too often, however we were performing at a bar one night and by 7:30 one guy had already gotten pretty buzzed and fallen into a big window and broke it. This was happening as I was leaving. |

I went to a bar I don't drink so I don't frequent bars too often, however we were performing at a bar one night and by 7:30 one guy had already gotten pretty buzzed and fallen into a big window and broke it. This was happening as I was leaving. I use to go to bars a lot when I was younger. I loved playing pool and I was good at it. I could go to a bar and spend five hours there playing pool and not having to buy myself one drink. I would play for beers. I have helped people at the bar and the last time I did. This girl took what they call the four horse men. Four drinks in a hour and it's known as one of the strongest drinks there are. With in that hour a couple people took her outside. She was pasted out and throwing up on herself. Her dumb **** friends knew she was taking meds and let her drink anyways. Longer story short. She was sent to the hospital. Hmm, maybe that's why I never seen her around again |

let me tell this story....because I'm livid right now about it. My niece is almost 20. She was a straight A student in high school and doing very well in college. She doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, sleep around. She goes to church every Sunday and helps with the youth group. She is always there to help someone in need. She dresses a bit different, but still not sleazy. She takes after my sister who had her own style when she was young. My mother and her husband having been putting her down and calling her a slut and telling her that guys look at her in certain ways and it's her fault. She has big boobs (nature gave her that) but doesn't dress sleazy, just different. Does my niece deserve to be treated this way just because others can't control themselves or want to assume and judge? Hello idiocy. They could have been nice and just made her eat her veggies!! If your mom and her husband think she's a slut because guys look at her I suggest having them go watch a few guys out in public. I'm sure they would realise that a majority (not all, some of us can at least be discreet if we admire a woman's figure) are openly staring at any fairly cute girl they meet. What, did you lock these 2 people in a closet for the last 25 years?? |

I've seen scum at grocery stores. Regardless....yes, maybe she should have been more careful to protect herself (because you don't know what the person really is until it's too late) but that doesn't mean they deserve it. *cough*Walmart*cough* More scum hangs out there than any place in America, I'm sure.... try Home Depot (at least around here lol) They are worse than any bar I've seen and they are sober too OK. So, I am a bit confused. How do we know some of the people at walmart are 'scum'? Is that a judgement made based upon THEIR appearance? Bottom line really is that people ARE judged on appearance. You may be the richest person in the world but if you dress in ragged dirty clothes people may not automatically ASSUME that you are. The same is true with dress, especially for ladies. You can be the most intelligent lady in the world, but if you dress like the girls on the corner,,,,its reasonable what people might assume. Because assumptions can never be avoided, its best to dress in the 'uniform' that puts forth the assumption you would like people to make about you. |
