What I found amusing was about 9 months ago a few of us started a survey privately asking women who have "Long walks on the beach" on their profile- if they have ever been to a beach? You would be surprised at how many have not ever been to a beach and said "It just sounded good".

I have no problem whatsoever believing this.

Didn't you say you've never been to the beach? How do you know you'd hate it?

No, I said I've never been to the ocean. I've been to plenty of beaches.

So tell me, why do we never see any profiles saying, "I like to go to the pool"? Probably because it doesn't pack the same punch? It doesn't have that same fantasy/romantic exotica about it?

If someone likes to hang out at the pool, who am I to say that's bad?

Then again, as I've said before, I'm going to the beach because I enjoy being there. Not because I'm trying to make it seem romantic.

I hope you don't mind me saying here, but since I have been around this site Off & On,I have sure noticed that there have been a lot of un-necessary critizisms being thrown towards newbie profilers & others for the way they are or what they believe or like and maybe those regulars here should try to get to know those peoples before making such snide remarks

Okay....I enjoy alphabetizing and catagorizing my very extensive collection of records, albums, and 78's, and making a database of them according to genre, songwriter(s), producers, label (domestic or import), year, time, lyrical content, membership, original or cover version, album location if available, how many copies, and what format they're on.

There's a real conversation-starting eye-catcher, huh?

You forgot album number:smile: but is that what you meant by number of copies?? We have quite an album collection. I have a couple whole rack of 45 singles Elvis, Beatles, Beach Boys, and Allman brothers.

I don't really think it has anything to do with being new. If you're here to meet someone, why not put a little effort into a profile? If you're not, then I guess it's not needed.

Nope, I meant number of copies, not stock number. I already have that information in a different database.

Awesome, we have a decent album collection and I go through remove them and keep the dust off of them and oil them to keep them right. I just learned I can still go online and get needles for my player. I wont play the records though just for keeping the player in order I do play and old scratched one to make sure it still works, LOL

Well here's the deal. The OP is new, yes. And btw, he's posted all of TWO times folks .. how many pages has this thread gone. He's left us to our chatter. LMAO

But seriously. First comments out of the gate .. FIRST IMPRESSION mind you is to tell us he's gonna throw up (in CAPS) and what the hell is wrong with us as women?

Now, I don't know about you Robin .. but honestly, this a good impression DOES NOT MAKE. The guy shows what a grouch he is. And nit-picking. Come on. His very first post out of the shadows, and he has this negative thing to say?

Who gives a rat's ass about the comments on the beach .. altho it blows me away how something that beautiful can actually be perceived as a pain in the butt .. lol But who cares about the beach part? He's crass and insulting.

That's more telling than being a newbie. Period.

I think probably has a lot to do more with personality conflict over just being new....but some of the newbies do seem to be in conflict with some of the older members...

Honestly I think most of us get along great. Consider the odds of this many people all talking in a room together and agreeing all the time.

As a community I think we rock. ALL of us

I agree with you on that, just some of us need to remember to pick our battles sometimes, just like in everyday life!! If its worth it and makes it better for the community then maybe its a battle worth fighting for....but if not whats the harm in letting it go??

Well singmesweet,I do in some ways understand with what you are trying to get across here, but when users come here and do profiles, they are only gonna comfortable with puting a certain amount of info out for strangers to read. Not everyone is gonna fully spill their guts on sites like these, especially not until they know the person well enough

It's a preference. You don't have to put anything there.

If I'm looking through profiles, the chances of me contacting someone with no profile or with very little written is very low. Again, a preference.
