"Romance" is fine....until reality comes back.

That's what half of the folks are on here looking for though....some "romance"...

Unfortunately, it is not possible to walk on the sand, have the water lap at your feet, watch the sunset, and listen to "Stranger On The Shore" forever. Eventually, you remember that you have bills to pay, a job to go to, kids to deal with, etc., etc., etc.

Unless, of course, you're independently wealthy.

if i read one more profile that says I LIKE WALKS ON THE BEACH i'm gonna THROW UP! what the hell is wrong with you women! did you all read the same romance novel? i lived on the BEACH and walking on it sucked! theres no solid footing so you look drunk.each step takes a million calories of energy and makes you pant and breath hard...nothing like being on a deserted beach with a strange man whos breathing hard is there girls? not to mention the sand that always manages to get into your underwear and feels like a sheet of sandpaper in your butt crack...yeah you might laugh but its true...so enough with the walking on the BEACH already!its friggin uncomfortable!it just sounds good...sorry,had to get it off my chest. OH,this is for that special someone(you know who you are),yes putting whipped cream there while useing olive oil on my #$%^ is perfectly acceptable...just dont ask me to go for a walk on the BEACH!!!

I was at the beach a couple weeks ago and there were no issues at all while walking on it. It was quite enjoyable, too. It must suck to live at the beach and be so cranky... laugh.

Of course that's true!

Don't we all know it! But when we aren't part of the "rat race"...

the beach is a place to refresh and feel relaxed , and enjoy the sun and breeze on your skin- and it would be nice to be with someone you would want to be close with...

There are many romantic settings.

For some it's the beach.
For others it may be the mountains,
or by a fireplace,
or on a park bench,
or on a carriage ride or anywhere that feels ...nice....

Sure, but there's only ONE of those aforementioned settings that gives off the vibe of some novel with Fabio on the cover.

The rat race is continuous, and the rats keep winning.

No, the man has a very good point. It's sickening to the point of exasperation when virtually every single female profile you look at says some crap about "the beach, the beach, the beach." Anytime I see that, I click to the next profile....usually only to see it again.

Why does it bother you so much?

It all comes down to how you feel about it...

a romantic setting for me has nothing to do with the beach at all

I remember dancing at a place in the Poconos
to music from a Beatle's cover band!
Awesome ,romantic and a great time...bigsmile

The Rat race will always be there, but you have to take a few minutes out to enjoy things-
hell try to take a few hours to!!

"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real."

Pete Townshend

Walking on the beach, alone or with someone, while watching a sunrise or sunset is spectacular and awe inspiring.

Isn't that what vacations are for? To get away from things for a little while?

I don't actually go to the beach for the romantic aspect. I go because I enjoy being there. It's one of my favorite places just to get away from everything else.

Meh. Can I help if I have my head and feet firmly grounded in reality? Why is this such a difficult concept for most people to wrap their heads around? Fantasy is only good for movies and books, maybe video games.

actually i don't like the beach for it's concept of romance either.

for me, it's the calm, soothing, serene state of mind that it puts me in. i get the same feeling from being in a forest and/or a ravine.

almost all of my good memories, childhood and adult, surround water - be it an ocean, a lake, a swimming pool, or even rain.

I agree, it should not be a difficult concept to wrap your head around. On the other hand, should it be a difficult concept to wrap YOUR head around the fact that THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with someone putting on their profile that they love the beach if they honestly do?
