No, I didn't say anyone was old. However, I did say middle aged. I'm middle aged!

You do have to go with what works..I agree. I don't agree that women your age all snub you, I am in that age group and I would prefer men close to my age..generally men who are attracted to are much younger or much older. You just prefer younger, many men your age do, there's nothing wrong with that.

There are no set rules..thank gawd ...

Believe what you want. But, I'm telling you the truth when I say women my age snub me. I've stopped talking to them now because it's happened so often. Why should I when I know I'll have better luck fishing in another pond?

Maybe these women are playing hard to get and I'm too stupid to know it. But, I've had them say very rude things like I'm too stupid to understand that an esthetician gave facials.

Does age really matter once people are adults? I dont really think it does. I choose not to date twenty something and younger because they havent lived yet and I have responsibilities that I wouldnt want to place upon them before they have their chance to live. It would be too odd for my eighteen year old as well.

My husband was twenty years my senior,,but he got all jealous, possessive and crazy on me so I left. I think the same could have happened to an unstable man at any age.

I dated someone seven years my junior and he was probably the most mature male I have been with. Again though, that was because of WHO he was not what age he was.

So, age is not the determining factor.
Maturity, responsibility, and similar intetests are much more significant. If I met a man my age whose interests were still speeding on the expressway and 'partying' , we wouldnt be a match. If I met a man younger OR older, who was raising a child and whose interests were music and movies,,we probably would get along swell.
Oh, and having some money wouldnt hurt as I dont plan to raise my children and a grown man. I would require someone on the independent side(financially speaking). I dont consider that gold digging as I dont require anyone to take care of me(financially).

Wow! What's this? Someone is actually talking about the topic! Discussing the actual CNN story! Not taking it personally, but giving their thoughts, ideas and views.

You know, I saw this story and thought this would be something interesting to discuss in this forum. I thought I'd get some intelligent insights and maybe hear a few good reasons why younger women shouldn't date older men. But, all I got were jokes about depends and gold diggers. The story didn't say young women should marry older men and take care of them until they die. Only that they may be better to date. As for gold diggers, do you really think these wealthy men are too stupid to know a gold digger when they see one?

But, no. Not a single reason why it's a bad idea for a woman in her 20s or 30s to date a man in his 40s, 50s or even 60s.

Honestly most of the women that I have encountered who consistently date older men do it for very specific reasons:

1. They like his money and the lifestyle it affords
2. They think he can help them get ahead in their own careers by drawing on his experience
3. They are looking for a father figure or someone to take care of them
4. They want to piss off the folks

...and older men date younger women for a variety of reasons too ...

But if both are consenting adults and both are getting their needs met ... have at it then...

And sometimes it turns in to an enduring and lasting love ... who's to say?

I don't tend to label anything as good or bad ... is it working or isn't it?

I wouldnt want my 20 something daughter dating a 50 year old man because their life experience would be too far apart and I would feel she would be robbing herself of years he was already able to live. Anything above thirty though,, age goes out the window for me.

One of the problems I had in dating (and later marrying)a sixty year old, is he had lived most of his life and was content just moping around. We couldnt be together physically(he is immigrant and lives in another country) and that was ok with him so long as he could call me his. The problem was, I was thirty three when we met and I waited SEVEN years to have a relationship with him,, he felt I should be willing to wait indefinitely but I disagreed. It didnt matter to him because he had already had the chance to LIVE his thirties, fourties, and fifties doing things he enjoyed with home he enjoyed them AND
he would not have been doing anything different in his life had he not met me,, but it made all the difference to me because I actually planned on LIVING in my thirties.
