Be in control of your emotions and don't let your emotions control you. We will evolve as a species when more of us learn to overcome our primal instincts.

Are Americans angrier today than in the past? Or do we simply have fewer inhibitions about acting out in public and no longer let anger seethe beneath the surface? Some say increasing narcissism today makes us upset when we don't get what we want...really? Three related questions...take your pick or opine on all three...

IMO, used to just be a few disgruntled here and there, but now, the majority is mad as hell, and rightfully so.

I think we are more angry, mostly because we have fewer coping and people skills taught to us or promoted in our communities.

More like we are used to being raised with such, but the immigrants don't want to assimilate to our civilized society, and the crimes against us keep mounting, without any relief in sight, since our govt won't enforce the border laws. Those from other countries have different cultures and customs that fly right in the face of those held by the average American. And for the most part, they are considered ugly, backward, and many times just plain unsanitary. Being repeatedly told that I should accept the unacceptable and show tolerance and compassion to those who do not give it, is why push comes to shove, when enough is enough.

I think the anger would be there without the issue of immigrants. The culture has slowly melded into an egocentric one where the majority dont feel a concern or obligation to their community or their neighbor. Cell phones and computers allow everyone to be their own GOD and pretty much ignore human contact and disregard human concern. We have lost a sense of caring about the WE and sadly become a nation of caring only about the ME (and my pocket)..

You opinion about "crimes against us keep mounting" is not supported by any evidence. Suggest you check your facts. Immigrant crime - illegal and otherwise - is no more than the general population statistics, and actually appears to be a little less. Indeed, there is more "hate " crime against immigrants now than in some years! You make sweeping generalizations with no supported facts to back them up...and show an incredible intolerance with comments like, "And for the most part, they are considered ugly, backward, and many times just plain unsanitary." Good luck...you appear to need it.

I think that more and more have gotten to the point of showing there emotions. No longer do some just tend to their own business but feel that they must speak their opinion even at times when they should suppress them. JMO

Well its NEVER really been the GOOD OLD TIMES that we like to remember, in every point of our history certain groups have been oppressed or suffered injustice...BUT , I do hope we get a little closer to GOOD TIMES soon,, just feels like our moral compass is slipping backwards quickly.

Not all immigrants are uncivilized or backward. A number of so-called 'civilized' countries imported labour force from these so-called'uncivilized' and third world nations. Take Britain for example, the intake of doctors, nurses, teachers and lawyers from India, Jamaica and other such countries escalated in the early 70's and throughout the 80's because Britain could not fill vacancies from suitably qualified professionals in the British labour pool.In some cases the immigrants were educated to higher standards than their British counterparts.

to be honest i really don't see the difference between now and back when i was a child, with people being angry.i mean really people keep typing or saying "back then"...really how far is "back then"?

yes the media does show alot more of the wrongs going on in the world because of its liberal ways, when it use to be a tad bit more conservative,"meaning it didn't want to show everything bad thing going on in the world".

as i typed before i haven't noticed a difference at all.

Nah,,morals are slipping..lol

I mean stigma did alot to keep people in line and now its unamerican to stigmatize anything. I remember when a man would have been ashamed to have his wife working let alone have her supporting him. I remember when kids got pregnant and it was actually seen as a bad thing instead of the thing to do or the thing the celebs were doing, or a sign of how grown they were. I remember when children were children and the adults had the authority and a child who misbehaved had some immediate discipline from the adult present and then AGAIN from their parents when they got home. Now,, god forbid anyone chastise children in anyway or otherwise treat them any differently than they do adults.

IT seems the line between sanity and insanity, right and wrong, is more grey than it has ever been in my lifetime.

No this is NOT funny !!! laugh laugh But; it is so true of the way our standars are slipping. Take the parent who came into school to make a complaint, what had the child done wrong? He did not say thank you to a member of staff for something he had been given and complained to his parents. During the course of the meeting with the child, his mum, and one of the deputy headteachers, the mother proudly stated " Well, he's not used to saying please and thank you at home, why should he have to say it here?".............

well to give you idea how "civilised' the original immigrants here were in Australia just over 200 years ago, they still burnt women at the stake.

Well said msharmony!! Morals have been slipping for many years now and there are more grey areas than ever. Kinda like the mom that got arrested after popping her teenager in mouth AFTER the daughter called the mom a b**ch. How about the teen that called 911 because his parents took away his x-box? http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/northnorthwest/chi-buffalogrove-blotter-nzone-1nov18,0,7218475.story
