Did this turn into a right vs. left argument? Does someone need a good anarchist drop into this argument?

There are far more outlets, people have always been angry. It seems to be a natural imbalance to an unknown situation, happened in the 60's with a number of violent shows from police shooting up college students to the government bombing a foreign country off the basis of freedom. We have a number of more outlets today then we did back in the "Good Ole Days", one we have the internet, two TV has grown to be such an amazing force upon the population, we also have far more movie studios making movies...video games...music...so on and so forth.

Still confused about how this turned towards immigration. But I will say that if you have a problem with the policies of your state you can bring that to the attention of your senator or governer...not that it does a whole lot because most of the time they simply don't listen. Wait...if they don't listen how can we blame this on something they should be listening to us about and changing for the better? Of course the definition of better differs from person to person...we once came here as immigrants as well, and according to immigration laws...we were also illegal.

Which we? If referring to slavery, 'we' actually came here as LEGAL cargo, or property.

Brush up on the immigration policy and don't turn this into a racist rant. The 'we' are the English that made the voyage in the first place...

I am aware of immigration policies as my husband is a non resident immigrant who was denied entry.I am not sure myself how this turned to immigration and I am glad this isnt a racist rant. That is IS the reason I asked for clarification of who the WE in your statement referred to. None of my american ancesters were here illegally, although I realize this is not the case for everyone.

why do people who start or make a comment about America having racism issues get blasted on these forums. America had slaves so did England America also has a problem accepting immigrants so does England and everywhere else. i think people are more angry these days because we have given all the power the the top dogs who run the countries and now its turned round to bite us in the arse, because we have no power to do anything anymore. i still like the forums tho because you can express the way you feel regardless of what people say or think.

I feel more dissapointment than anger. I think anger comes from a place where we forget that people are fallible. I am very disappointed in the way the culture has started to lean toward teaching each person to be their own God and do whatever feels good to them and accept everyone else just doing what feels good to them too. Seems like a culture of the blind leading the blind because noone feels it important to see a collective truth anymore.

Also, I cant speak to others emotions but I think people EXPRESS their anger much more often and in much more inappropriate ways because it has become acceptable and excusable and carries little stigma anymore.

Say what you want, but stigma serves a purpose and sometimes trying so hard to make sure people dont feel their actions or words are 'wrong' or refusing to aknowledge that their choices are sometimes bad ones, causes more harm than good.

Are Americans angrier today than in the past? Or do we simply have fewer inhibitions about acting out in public and no longer let anger seethe beneath the surface? Some say increasing narcissism today makes us upset when we don't get what we want...really? Three related questions...take your pick or opine on all three...

true, i guess people will always have there own opinion about what is right or wrong for themselves even though its not just about themselves. and no matter what anybody says thats the way things are for them. believe it or not tho i am going to be living in america for a couple of years so i guess i will see how different england and america really are in the way we handle opposing views. i dont think england is as angry as much as we will always tell it how it is in a "pollite way" well sometimes lol. i think we are becoming less angry here because even tho we have little power over "the greater good" we arnt afraid so much to go against the grain on some subjects. dont get me wrong some of us will defend our country till the end just like the man who called me a biggot the other day, but most of us (the younger generation know that yes this country has the nhs and benefits and so on but were not afraid to say "do ya know wat this country is a load of old dogs xxxxxxx sometimes laugh

I draw no strength from anger, like those around me seem to do on a daily basis. Usually I will acknowledge to someone that I am angry about something, but it is a calm, honest remark about how I feel. I do not rant, rave, and posture. I've seen anger consume and destroy people's lives who get swept up in the intensity of this strong negative emotion. I want no part of it, and to me it is better to acknowledge the feeling, rather than be controlled by it.

I dunno how the slavery thing got into to it

but I know when we were in Africa, my black friends looked around and said
"yanno I think I'm glad my ancestors were stolen from this hellhole"

different perceptions I guess, when my elders have gone to Africa, their response has been 'I wonder how amazing a place this would have been if my ancestors were not stolen from these lands..."
