Mayhem's got it body and mind...a man carries himself with confidence without bragging.

... and he has all of those delicious tattoos! drool

Nicely put M&M flowerforyou

You can think about it that way. A man who is in terrific shape with great muscle is a truly dedicated, consistent man with great qualities, which means he is likely a much better partner than someone who is just average or fat. I am sure you will agree from your experience, MelodyGirl, that nothing takes more sacrifice than bodybuilding.

But bodybuilding is the hardest I believe, its a combination of diet, exercise, sleep, mentality and emotionality. If you wanna be the best bodybuilder, you gotta push yourself further than anyone, you gotta have great genetics too.

You can insert more than just "body building" into that paragraph.

Take a look at these guys.

This is what I call dedication. They have everything to lose and yet...not one has more muscle mass than you.

I respect what you have done with yourself. And I dont think bodybuilders are all cocky. I just dont understand why you think that being a body builder is the hardest thing in sports or life.

Well, for example, a professional bodybuilder has to take steroids, which clearly shorten their lives. That to me is the ultimate sacrifice, they love bodybuilding so much they would sacrifice years off their lives to become the most muscular. And I am referring to Mr.Olympia, not some amateur natural competition.

Have you not read or heard in the news about all the baseball players and football players that take steroids? So its just not body builders.

What about boxers and mma fighters who constantly take shots to the head? They are def shortening their lives as well. Same with footbal player who reciecve concussion after concussion and still play.

Hell..you can even through in the guys who make a living putting their life on the line such as deep sea fisherman and loggers. They could go find a safer job but they dont...they risk a shorter life to make that extra dollar. Same reason a bodybuilder uses steroids.

Well, sure, you can add bodybuilding to one of the most difficult tasks out there. Also consider most bodybuilders work another job and dont make much money, only the top ones do.

I am just being cocky because I am 21, I have an excuse.

Last time I checked, hot chicks love cocky guys too.

I am not saying I am better than you or anyone here because I have some muscle, all I am saying is look at Arnold and all the bodybuilders with the hottest women on the planet, and trust me, bodybuilders are not rich and do not have the best personalities according to you.

Dude....I have the genetics as well. When I was between 18-24, I was as large, if not a bit larger than you are.

But guess what, you are soon going to realize what kind of damage you have done to your body by going to the extremes you have.

Having muscles is all well and good, until it's time to deal with the arthritis that putting excessive strain on your joints has started to cause. You may be able to lift a few hundred pounds ( or kilos I would guess since you are from Canada ) now, but in a few years, you'll be lucky to be able to lift a bag of sugar.

Trust me. You may enjoy all that muscle for the next few years...but you are not going to enjoy your 40's at all. It's all downhill after that.

Wow. This is the MOST off base, left field bullshite I have EVER seen spouted around here.

This is rich.

Just because you have a bunch of muscles and have dedicated yourself to spending hours in the mirror admiring your superior and more " desirable " body...you are going to be a better partner for someone than a regular, kinda flabby, very average dude like me???

That is just freakin HILARIOUS!!!

Oh, yeah. Narcissism is SUCH a great quality in a partner. LMFAO!!!

Speaking of Arnold, he is the most accomplished man in the history of the world. He is my hero and should be everyone's. I don't think I will be down much in my 40's, I will workout consistently and my bones will stay strong, I take vitamins and supplements to keep me healthy and I feel great and full of testosterone, no estrogen please.

I think you took my statements out of context, I have only been seriously training for 7 months and I am not planning to quit any time soon, no matter what, I would put bodybuilding above any girl any day.

Its much more than a sport, its learning and discovering yourself, its spiritual as much as it is physical, thats the beauty of it.

I went from a fairly skinny 150 pounds to almost 185 pounds in 7 months, the sky is the limit.

Ok. I KNOW I was bigger than you then.

I was up around 250 pounds.

Go ahead and think that working out " constantly " and taking vitamins is going to keep you from having problems.

It isn't your bones that you have to worry about. It's your joints.

Umm, I must say , I prefer them to slightly RESEMBLE a human being.. not a human skeleton and not a machine,,,,just a man who has taken care of himself without being obsessed about building muscle. A shwarzenegger, iron man type, is alien looking to me and a skin and bones man just does little to help me feel safe.

As has been pointed out multiple times on this site...it's more about the way you carry yourself than anything else.

a funny thing

when I was in my twenties I worked in the oilfield

sometimes 20 hour days, 7 days a week

I was 220 lbs. Spent all day picking up and working with stuff that weiged hundreds of pounds. at one time I could pick up 100 lb sacks of chemicals one with each hand and do it all day every day.

I would have a 200 lb valve on my shoulder climbing stairs to a rig floor and my friend would say "you wanna go work out with us after work?

and would look at the valve and say "why?"

and it was a different type of muscle. Instead of biceps my forarms and wrist were big. I used em more than biceps

and instead of lifting a heavy weight 8 or 10 times in sets of 3, I did it a hundred times with no rest breaks. I would have to take 100lb sack of drilling mud and climb a ladder with it on my shoulder to pour it into the top of a truck. and do it with five pallets worth. And THEN drive the truck to the rig and spend all night cementing the well. and get home just in time to load ANOTHER truck

so I see a lot of difference between body builders and body sculptors and people that just work for a livin
