So, in your own words. Without arguments please. I do not care what you are for or against, what do YOU think would make America great again? If you were president, what would you do to make this country efficient? To make it to where every single american citizen was happy.

Everyone seems to think they have the answers, so lets here it!

I couldn't even begin to think how to do it because you will never please everyone.

So really, what is the point in everyone being against each other? There has to be some common ground somewhere? We are ONE country. And each election we seem to be more and more against each other. very sad.

More personal responsibility would be a start and I do not mean less social programs nor less government. I mean more personal responsibility in "what can I do personally to make the world a better place to live for everyone." Personal responsibility has nothing do with going around telling everyone else how to live but making sure we live to the best standards possible for ourselves and allow others to make the journey for their personal responsibility on their own.

I would make it law for everyone to stop what their doing at the same time
and sit and breath, think good thought and send love for... oh say about 30 minutes everyday...millions of people meditating for peace at the same time.

But how could that possibly make things better???
millions sending a loving vibration out into the universe at the same time.

just silly me...slaphead

For one...balanced trade agreements. Which means that if they want to export stuff for us to buy, then they take as much of our stuff for their citizens to buy without putting unfair tariffs on the goods that price them out of the range of the common people of those countries.

Second...people need jobs. Make it less " attractive " monetarily for a company to send jobs to another country and have their goods shipped here.

Third...put a halt to the dumbing down of this country. Anyone who has taken a good look around realizes that things like decent grammar, math skills, knowledge of the country's history are all becoming a forgotten art.

Fourth and finally....MAKE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN LIVES rather than have the government hand out things that the people have done nothing to earn. There is FAR too much of a sense of entitlement these days. Everyone wants something for nothing, and a whole lot of people actually GET it.

How about the removal of Liberalism.Seems the majority of problems can be traced to the stupid ideas and laws from Liberalism.I don't see how a country can be great when Liberals are always putting it down and saying how awful we are.

No. Liberalism is a necessary thing. Just like Conservatism.

The problem is that, at this point in time, there is no balance of the two.

The country is completely polarized. For the most part, people are either for one side or the other, no matter how extreme the views may be.

I think God would be good for america.. but being that we cant mix religion with politics, I guess I couldnt be president, they would hang me for socialism most likely...lol.

Id have some simple give back programs in place that require citizens to give back(require not optional). I know there is a system in the netherlands where at a certain financial cap the citizen has to hire someone to do something,, anything, and when that citizen earns so much, they do the same and so on and so on. There is a part of the community for everyone. A community for those who have perversions, for those who want to get high, for those who are into church,,whatever... a place for everyone without having to offend those who disagree. People take pride in their jobs, whatever they are, because they know their contribution means something and there isnt the huge disparity between the haves and have nots.

Like I said, I could never get the popular vote, Im too much into doing for others and caring about more than myself.

The first thing I would do is overhaul all the government offices (federal AND STATE). I agree that the states themselves have the right to have their own laws and hire their own people for their government work, but this right does not supercede federal law, nor does it allow them to hire their friends and family, and then not enforce good work ethics and results.

some examples: make it so that the social services departments could not require their receptionists to have a social workers degree. By receptionist, I mean the ladies and gentleman that sit behind the front desk all day long answering the phones, and entering a clients information into the data-system so that when their number is called, the actual social worker is prepared. This is a basic data entry position which does not require a four year degree to perform.

ALL states would have some form of welfare to work program, in which welfare recipients were required to attend a fourty hour a week job search program, unless they could show justifiable reason as to why they couldn't attend; like a special needs family member that required they stay home no matter what (verified with a dr's written statement to this effect).
These job search programs would be internally reviewed on a quarterly basis at a minimum, and any worker found not enforcing the job search criteria (in other words, allowing the job searchers to just sit and talk all day long and NOT work towards being employed), would be first given a written reprimand, and then if it happened again in a one year time frame, fired for not doing their job.

All job searchers in the above program would be required to accept the first job they were offered, no matter what it was, unless they could prove that it would be more of a hardship on them than having no job; for example having to drive 50 miles one way, 5 days a week for minimum wage, and only getting 20 hours per week.

Employers would not be able to review your credit history in order to determine eligibility of employment, except in cases where your financial history would directly relate to the job at hand, such as a bank teller.

Landlords would not be able to review your credit history/report in aking a decision concerning renting to you. They already have laws in effect to protect them from people who do not pay their rent, it is called court and eviction, and the courts can reverse the charges so that the landlord does not have to pay a cent to evict you.

And a big one that would make a lot of people upset: their would be no more "national minority months". For example, no more National women's month, no more "black history" month" no more this type of month or that type of month; all they do is promote discrimination, and put emphasis on the differences between everyone, when we SHOULD be teaching our kids that everybody is the same and thus should be treated the same.

I think I will stop ehre thoguh I have a ot of other ideas that I would work at implenting. I know I made a lot of people upset with the last one.

Small businesses that can compete with large corporations would be nice. How can we get this to work again?

Innovative ideas and inventions that the world wish they could have to get the economy going again. Believe it or not the United States use to have some of the best products in the world and many countries wanted them. That was a big booster for the economy.

3 year Apprenticeships for every type of job available to improve in a better quality service in the nation. The service you get over here is horrible in many sectors, let alone the quality of service you get when paying.

Invest in the infrastructure of the country repairing bridges, streets, highways, drinking water quality, electrical outputs, sewage systems.

Invest in Education so Americans know more about what their ancestors went through to make this country great, so they know what the capital of Minnesota is without looking it up, or understand a little more about how the government works before voting.

Stop helping other countries and have NATO or the UN have a more active role in this. Afterall they are comprimised of many countries. America should try to fix its own country first, by making sure there are no starving street kids, clean up the neighborhood from gangs, create effective social service programs.

500,000 American troops are overseas. We have some bases in Siberia even! While the US has almost exhausted its money and credit, China is making big profits. We need to fix this problem.

The MiddleEast epidemic will continue for another 1000 years. Truly ask yourself if more men and women should be sacrificing their lives for the causes the government gives us.

Those are just a few ideas. If they will ever be done that is another question. I know that we have to really be careful for who we vote for. Is that congressman, mayor, governor, senator really compassionate about his work and truly wants to improve the country, or does he just make an impression so that he can get a seat in the government. How often do they truly work per week? What have they truly accomplished while in office? What is their track record? These are questions you should ask yourself before voting for someone.

End political correctness and do what is best for the future, not the now.

Use our own energy resources and stop buying foreign energy.

Adopt the English education system.

Tort reform.

Invest in transportation technology like high speed trains and electric vehicles.

Put short term limits on all politicians.

Put a stop to illegal immigration.

I think those are all great ideas, except the black history month thing,,, Segregation and racism and bigotry are all very real in America and I wouldnt think ignoring them would make people more united. I believe the reason we have such things is because history has shown that America can Exclude many groups if left on its own accord. I remember as a kid, the educational system hadnt mentioned one thing a black person had done , had not taught me about anything from my american history except slavery, until junior high. I remmber when BHM came out, the white students laughing and asking why we had a month when blacks never did anything. I think what people ARENT taught has just as much baring on what they come to believe as what they are.

Forgive me, I am not trying to say we shouldn't teach about what has been done to the black culture, or to women in history; I am not saying we shouldn't teach about black rights and women's sufferage over the years. That should ALL be taught as a part of history class, or possibly even government class (as in human rights, women sufferage throughout the years). BUT by dedicating an entire month to these things, it is not teaching anything. It is just bringing a lot of emotion back up to the head of the boil. And while yes, it is god to bring that stuff up in order to purge the boil, it needs to be done in a more gradual and effective way.

we're fine just the way we are

everything has to be couched in some form of ideology. The liberals are sure that the neo cons are gonna destroy America

and the conservatives are sure that the liberals are gonna destroy it

but the two balance each other and its the diversity of opinion and philosophy that makes us strong and able to overcome any excess that either of the two impose

It's always been that way and always will

we could use a little more efficiency in our government system but even without it as a nation we'll be fine

Educate people to be fair, conscience and responsible .
End the Zionists control of America .

I completely agree! I really wish more people knew how to spell. I'm not an expert or anything, but I know the difference between "HERE" and "HEAR". There are so many spelling errors in this thread!
