Ther only groups who want this "health care" are the extremely wealthy, politicians and the ones who want to leech off the working class.

Let's not forget, Pelosi is Hussein's bltch and she couldn't propose anything without his approval.

LOL, do you really believe that?noway

The reason Faux news is not as effective as it would like to be is that although it's ratings are supposedly the highest of the cable news stations, they are missing the bulk of American adults still, hopefully by choice.

2003 census says there are 253.7 million adults in this country ages 18 through over 100 and Faux gets 2.2 million of them to watch it on it's best day..lol

Faux doesn't have this country at heart, they have hatemongering and fearmongering at heart anyway. I guess the majority of this country "knows better"???

I watched the House of Representatives debate all day and through to the final vote. This was really a historic event.

It's amazing to me that despite all the scare tactics, anti-reform commercials, and constant barrage of attacks by FOX, that it passed.

It became clear that the Conservatives never really cared about the American people, their mission was to kill this bill at all costs. All they really care about is regaining power.

 Yeah, the Democrats were waiting on the Republicans to offer something tangible but all they wanted to do was make up crazy lies,so the Democrats just went ahead without them:smile: I hope they do this more often:smile:

It passed the House now it has to pass the Senate.

Penalizing people for either not wanting their insurance or not being able to afford it is an asinine idea.

The morons that came up with that idea better expect hell to arise!! Does anyone really think the American people will tolerate honest Americans being punished because the won't or CAN'T afford this insurance?? If the senate knew what was good for everyone, especially them, they better not pass this bill.

I just read through your link Peledac, and although it is the first one I have looked at, I see no mention whatsoever of Penalizing people for either not wanting their insurance or not being able to afford it

Daniel, it was part of one of the bills. It was written that if a person can afford to buy insurance and do not they will get a penalty on their income taxes for not buying it. It did not apply for those who cannot afford insurance and still opt out.

I know it has been reccomended in the past Dragoness, but what I was saying is that Peledac is complaining of this issue, and posted a link witht his complaint. I looked at the link to see if the part of "penalizing" those who can afford insurance but don't get insurance was passed as part of the entire bill or not, and it isnt even mentioned that I remember.

Of course it might. It worked for car insurance. Make people fear their money is going to be taken and they can support or fight just about anything. The argument for car insurance, as I remember, was that the costs for covering all those uninsured drivers who have accidents gets passed down in higher premiums to those with insurance. Same holds true for health insurance, do you realize how many hospitals are shutting down because they cant afford to keep caring for illegals and others without insurance? It directly affects those who chose insurance when other choose to take the risk of not having it.

"The legislation would require most Americans to carry insurance and provide federal subsidies to those who otherwise could not afford it. Large companies would have to offer coverage to their employees. Both consumers and companies would be slapped with penalties if they defied the government's mandates."

The above is written in the article I posted. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091108/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_care_overhaul

I guess we will have to see won't we who they penalize or not. No matter what it's asinine!! Forcing someone to go into any form of government program is nothing but socialism. I'm sorry some of you guys just cannot see that. I pray the senate has enough common sense to reject this bill.

so offering subsidies, hmmm where will that money come from. Bend over frustrated

The thing is, you have the option to not carry car insurance by not having a car. There is no way to opt out of required health insurance.

The issue still remains that those with insurance carry the cost of higher premiums to maintain care for those who choose not to have it.

I am not against health care reform.I can remember getting a surgery and getting charged $20.00 for a box of tissues.I think something should be done but you are probably picking the worse origination to try to fix these problems. The Government never has,nor will it ever be a efficient, money saving, entity. The US Government is just the opposite. They run up debt that most companies can't even comprehend. It is hard for me to imagine the logistics and how many people they will have to hire to get this thing working. You also couldn't have possible picked a worse time then now to slam together one of the countries most expensive projects ever.

I think a better idea would be to make it mandatory for everyone to have insurance and you can either buy it through your company or you can purchase it through the government. Those people who couldn't afford it or were unemployed could get on the government program(like welfare)and go from there.

They got the right idea but the majority of people are against it because they know the Government can't do it efficently.I think almost always the Government is wrong on actual costs when it comes to these projects and it seems ever time a read news article on the health care bill it goes up by 200 billion.Even Medicare is in big trouble and obviously they are going to have to raise taxes by leaps and bounds. This health care bill would have been better passed in the Clinton year when the economy was soring.I also don't like the idea that we are stuck with the Government healh care and no alternatives(other than going to another country).

But I dont see it as being stuck. We have ALL the options we had before PLUS the option of the government exchange.
