Something to smile about,,changes being made to the healthcare system that are based upon the consumers needs....not gonna be a fix all and not gonna work immediately but thank goodness its finally got a go ahead on being implemented.

it's lovely seeing alleged christians getting uppity over the thought of shelling out more in taxes so the less fortunate can finally get an alternative to the health departments.
I've been to both Sweeden and London where they almost pay double in taxes than us but none seemed to walk around like they had a stick...or should i say Elephant stuck up their bum.
Plus..why do neocons call it Obamacare when he didn't write it? Why do they call it Universal when it's nowhere close to resembling it?

I watched the House of Representatives debate all day and through to the final vote. This was really a historic event.

It's amazing to me that despite all the scare tactics, anti-reform commercials, and constant barrage of attacks by FOX, that it passed.

It became clear that the Conservatives never really cared about the American people, their mission was to kill this bill at all costs. All they really care about is regaining power.

Ther only groups who want this "health care" are the extremely wealthy, politicians and the ones who want to leech off the working class.

Let's not forget, Pelosi is Hussein's bltch and she couldn't propose anything without his approval.

I guess I still don't understand why there is such a rush to push this through. You know the BIll did not get read by either side.
I think they should have to read it and go to their distritics and explain the whole bill to the people before it goes to a vote.

Oh and 1 republican voted for it so I guess you all will call it "bi-partisannoway

Nothing good can come out of the way things are just getting pushed through without any serious debate and both sides working together.

The Republicans never had any intention of working together with the Democrats on a Health Care Reform bill. After watching the entire debate, it was clear to me that their sole intention was to do anything they could to stop a reform bill from passing.

They know that the passage of a reform bill will severely damage any chance they would have to regain the White House in the future. This was also reflected in their vote, how they voted strictly by party lines. (I don't even consider the lone Rep vote legit)

There were a lot of Dems to vote against it.

Both sides wanted it to be there way or no way.

I hardley call it a debate. One side saying how great and historic this is and the other not wanting it.

Both sides should be forced to sit together and wright these things not one side introducing something then the other side hates it and there is no happy middle.

IM just an observer, not a member of congress,,but,,,I am curious

How so many people seem to know the details of the behind the scenes activity of this bill...like who participated or didnt participate in writing it or whether Pelosi is anyones '*****'. Seriously, where do people come up with these little details....?

Anyhow, I dont think it is logical to say only the wealthy want this bill, they are the ones that will be taxed to help cover it from what I was able to read of the bill.(their taxes are not the only thing helping cover costs though,,before any 'my life is grand the way it is' folks begin complaining).

I think plenty of people wanted some type of change to the system. I think the sheer numbers of those who contributed their healthcare and insurance nightmares held just as much weight as those threatening not to vote for politicians because they assume their money will pay for something to help others less fortunate. I do think they made the right choice but I cannot say for certain until it starts going into affect.

It also feels to me like they have worked on this reform FOREVER, at least since Obama took office, and probably before that since he is not the first President to address the issue, I dont know how that is a rush.

This is a long time coming,, I am hoping for the best, I dont know why anyone would do otherwise. But then again, I dont know why in the wealthiest country, citizens put up such a protest about helping their own even though they rally together quite quickly to send their kids to fight wars to HELP others.

Pelosi wouldn't put her name on anything she knew Hussein wouldn't sign. Why waste the time?

History has proven, the filthy wealthy are less taxed than the middle working class. That is where the majority of the financial burden will rest.

History has also proven, most of what Gov. puts their hands on is to have more control over the peasants and make us more dependant on the politcals.

It also feels to me like they have worked on this reform FOREVER, at least since Obama took office, and probably before that since he is not the first President to address the issue, I dont know how that is a rush.

It will come to light, after it is signed into law, just how detrimental to Americans this bill will be. It was never thouroghly read.

This is a long time coming,, I am hoping for the best, I dont know why anyone would do otherwise. But then again, I dont know why in the wealthiest country, citizens put up such a protest about helping their own even though they rally together quite quickly to send their kids to fight wars to HELP others.

History has proven mans nature and his charity and his greed. History is no proof of what is happening or will happen at this time though. I respect your opinions, I just dont agree. AS to the middle class having a majority of the financial burden or the wealthy wanting this bill,,, I doubt it,,,,, here are just some of the financial provisions of the bill(none are too friendly to wealthy individuals or businesses)

FINANCING

* Imposes a surtax of 5.4 percent on individuals earning more than $500,000 a year and couples making more than $1 million.

* Imposes a 2.5 percent excise tax on medical devices.

Limits tax breaks for foreign multinational companies incorporated in tax havens that may be using offshore structures to evade U.S. taxes.

* Closes a loophole that lets paper companies claim a valuable tax credit for making biofuel that is already a byproduct of paper production. This provision raises $24 billion over 10 years.

* Would write into law Internal Revenue Service rules denying tax breaks on business transactions that lack an economic purpose and are undertaken only to create a tax write-off. Fines of 20 percent to 40 percent would be imposed for violating the rules.

How many are small business owners who will cut jobs to come under that amount or will be run out of business?

* Imposes a 2.5 percent excise tax on medical devices.

And the doctors and hospitals who buy these devices wont pass the cost to their patients?

Limits tax breaks for foreign multinational companies incorporated in tax havens that may be using offshore structures to evade U.S. taxes.

Whats the amount this will raise? Kind of hard to find them and prove it.

* Closes a loophole that lets paper companies claim a valuable tax credit for making biofuel that is already a byproduct of paper production. This provision raises $24 billion over 10 years.

Doesn't matter anyway. If cap and trade is passed there will be no more paper companies in the US.

* Would write into law Internal Revenue Service rules denying tax breaks on business transactions that lack an economic purpose and are undertaken only to create a tax write-off. Fines of 20 percent to 40 percent would be imposed for violating the rules.

And what amount would that raise? And since when is it the governments job to tell a business how and what they spend there money on!

Well, it is only the preliminary approval anyway and it still has two stages to go through before it hits the presidents desk, or if it hits his desk.

I guess all my work may be helping. I am not done yet though by a long shot.

They have free healthcare in Mexico already. If you went to Mexico illegally you could get free healthcare.
