I am not against health care reform.I can remember getting a surgery and getting charged $20.00 for a box of tissues.I think something should be done but you are probably picking the worse origination to try to fix these problems. The Government never has,nor will it ever be a efficient, money saving, entity. The US Government is just the opposite. They run up debt that most companies can't even comprehend. It is hard for me to imagine the logistics and how many people they will have to hire to get this thing working. You also couldn't have possible picked a worse time then now to slam together one of the countries most expensive projects ever.

I think a better idea would be to make it mandatory for everyone to have insurance and you can either buy it through your company or you can purchase it through the government. Those people who couldn't afford it or were unemployed could get on the government program(like welfare)and go from there.

Isnt that the proposal?

They got the right idea but the majority of people are against it because they know the Government can't do it efficently.I think almost always the Government is wrong on actual costs when it comes to these projects and it seems ever time a read news article on the health care bill it goes up by 200 billion.Even Medicare is in big trouble and obviously they are going to have to raise taxes by leaps and bounds. This health care bill would have been better passed in the Clinton year when the economy was soring.I also don't like the idea that we are stuck with the Government healh care and no alternatives(other than going to another country).

But I dont see it as being stuck. We have ALL the options we had before PLUS the option of the government exchange.

There is two problems with that. One is the cost.It don't take a economist to figure out if you add tens of millions of new people to a free medical program you are going to be adding billions of more dollars to something that is already running out of money. There is also no way I am going to believe that the government is going to save 1 billion let alone hundreds of billions of dollars on cost cutting. When was the last time you heard of the Federal government building a highway, bridge,or other structure and you read that they came millions of dollars under the projected cost?Never! These projects never come under the projected cost and typically goes over by at least 30%

The second is the efficentcy.Once again with tens of millions of new people seeking medical treatment overnight how are doctors, hospitals, and others going to deal with millions of new patients on top of the already overloaded medical system? It is going to lead to long waits(sometimes months)before a doctor can see you.

Also if this is such a good idea how come there isn't a single country out there supporting this idea?I haven't heard any countries that have health care for everyone saying we would be better off passing this bill.Matter of fact I know a lot of people come to the United states to get operations.

I have faith that the experts and economists will pan out the cost and efficiency, but only time will truly tell. As far as what other countries think, I have two responses

1. Because its not in our media, doesnt mean it isnt happening.
2. I also havent 'seen' any countries saying it would be bad for us.
