Gays will be able to marry each other in every state soon enough. People will realize that they do not have a right to nose into others lives at this level.

HA!Now thats funny! Are you talking about how the gays are sticking their noses into a 6000 year old Christian tradition and trying to re-write it so everything is backwards and the gays define what marriage is? rofl

Shot yourself in the foot on that one big time!

oops

yeah..I believe she is...times are changing my friend, times are changing!!!
What weve been doing isn't working...were doing it wrong!

oh, please.

nobody is saying that the churches will have to perform the marriages.

right now, a person has to get a license (um, from the government) and then they can either have a religious ceremony or a secular one. what's wrong with going to a JP or to a church that supports gay rights?

Here's a idea!Make up a word other than marriage and define that word as a man/man woman/woman life long commitment and vote on that!I don't care if you get married or not just stop calling it marriage and stop trying to but into the man/woman marriage institution.

It has nothing to do with the government or the churches. It is has everything to do with thousands of years of marriage between a man and a woman.People like it that way and people want it to stay that way.You can blame who ever you want or say what ever you want.Even if we were to abolish everything concerning marriage and start from scratch it would still be defined between a man and a woman because that is the way people want it.I don't see why this is so difficult to understand.

if you're gay in Maine you can do anything you want behind closed doors

except be married

^Duh, we gathered that, it's what the discussion is about.....

here is my problem with all of this, same as the helmet law for motorcyclists. In Pa. I can ride without a helmet, I go to Jersey and have to put one on....Now say a gay couple is married legally in another state and they get a job promotion in Maine. Why then would their marriage be nul and void.....if you're going to pass laws make them universal.

Universal laws?? HELL NO!!! I don't want Massachusetts and California's liberal laws invading Oklahoma or other states. Each state has their own right. I say good for Maine. Calling those of us that don't approve of gay marriage names gets no one anywhere. If we're going to go there, then how about the left wingers just accept that the PEOPLE voted against this. I don't have a problem with gays or lesbians as long as it's not shoved down my throat or my child's throat. Sorry, I do have a problem with it. Rake me over the coals you guys I don't give a ****, my feeling is marriage should be between a man and a woman. You have your views, I have mine. I'm not a bible thumper it's just my belief.

Anywho, Thomas made a good point, this is about the government imposing their laws, without the people's input. Now the people have spoken.

i'm absolutely horrified and saddened by this.

i can't believe that anyone would think they have a right to restrict others from marrying and being happy.

it's disgusting.

Have you ever seen pictures from a "gay pride" march??--Now that's, disgusting!!smokin

Yes, these gay pride marches are a disgrace, the way they dress and act is disgusting. I was glad when Boston stood their ground and didn't have the St. Patrick's Day Parade the year the gays were allowed to have their parade. I know not all gays are like that, but hell, these parades go way too far.

Why look? If you don't like it, then don't bother. You think that when the evangelicals are having their shindigs in the middle of town that I go down and look at them with disgust?(since I do not agree with their beliefs) No, I mind my own business and go on about my day normally. Maybe you should do the same. Maybe if you did, you wouldn't be so angry with the world.

known fact most gay marriages far out last that of heteosexual marriages, hmmmm...wonder why...what's that say, course thatstat doesn't make me want to marry a man, but I do find it interesting that what most deem wrong seems to stand a stronger test of time than what most deem righteous.....

To be honest I think most gay couples could really care less about the institution of marriage, but they need it for legal purposes, because society has deemed it such, so give it to them.

ok...I haven't figured out how this would effect others. I've seen the tax argument but I don't get how that would effect others....someone can explain that point to me

regardless of whether someone agrees or disagrees with homosexuals...I don't see how the government or the voters has the right to tell who they can marry (legal age or consent)

I personally don't have a problem with gay marriages, but I'm trying to figure out why others would. I'm really asking because I'm confused.

If it is because someone doesn't think it's ok to be gay, then it shouldn't effect you, correct?

huh

Thats a good point Rose and I would say the core of the problem is what you believe is morally wrong. There is a lot of things associated exclusively with the gay community I believe is morally wrong such as anal s**,crossdressing, man to woman surgery or woman to man surgery, two men bringing up a child or two woman bringing up a child, and many others.Other than the moral issues after living in Seattle for 12 years(which is the second highest population in America for gays)I found them to be only interested in what they could do to help themselves. They could care less about what anyone else believed or thought and they always believed what they thought was right and everyone else was wrong.I have never met another group of people who thought this way.

You must also consider the ramifications of legalizing gay marriage if you are going to throw the morals out the window. What would stop two family members from getting married?I'm sure there is a few thousand people out there that would love to marry their animals. How are you going to say two family members are not allowed to marry because you are morally against it then say two gays are ok.It would open a can of worms to all sorts of people wanting to marry anything and everything and suing for discrimination.

it's currently illegal to marry family members;

bestiality is also a crime.

I hope all of you that support Gay marriage are going to support polygamy as well. Who are we to say that a man can't marry 10 women if they love each other.

What goes on in someone elses life is not my business. It doesn't have anything to do with how I live my life on a day to day basis, so I would not care if a man married 10 women.

Ah, But therein lies the rub.

So many people " looked down " on that practice, that even the Mormon Church decided it was no longer prudent to condone it.
