An American man who brewed coffee naked in his own kitchen is facing indecent exposure charges and could be jailed. Eric Williamson, 29, from Virginia, insists he has done nothing wrong and any exposure of his private parts was purely accidental. Williamson was making coffee in the buff at 5.30am when a woman and her seven-year-old son walked past his kitchen window in Springfield. The woman then called the police. Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Mary Ann Jennings said the woman claimed Williamson then moved and exposed himself again through a large front window. In his defence, Williamson said: "I'm by myself. So I come down here - the roommates are gone, and it's my house. "I never had a conversation with anyone, never saw anyone. Didn't cross my mind, came and got coffee. I mean if I stood and seemed comfortable in my kitchen possibly it's natural. It's my kitchen." Williamson, who is the father of a five-year-old girl, continued: "I am a loving dad. Any of my friends... and anyone knows that. "And there is not a chance on this planet that I would ever, ever do anything like that to a kid." Trial lawyer Dickson Young, who is not connected with the case, explained that "in order for it to be a crime, they have to prove - the state and police - have to prove that he knew those people were there when he was standing there. "The statute requires an intentional display of your private parts. So if you are occasionally displaying them, accidentally displaying them, inadvertently displaying them it's not a crime." Ms Jennings said the police would not pursue a case based on inadvertent exposure. The charge is a misdemeanour punishable by up to a year in jail. |

At 5:30 am! Surely he should know that late in the day everyone in the world walks by his window to see if he is alive and out of bed. I'd imagine (could be wrong) the sun hasn't even started showing itself even in Virginia at that time. Pretty rediculous imo.

This is absurd...
Based on other comments (over a long period of time on M2) the only criminal activity for a man naked in the kitchen is cooking bacon. That woman clearly hasn't been keeping up with the threads! |

odd!!
Perhaps the lady and her kid should be charged as "peepers"..... |

Why didn't the mother in this situation tell her son that it is impolite to look in peoples windows?.! Yes the man should be a little more cautious but that mother should be teaching her child what is not ok. He may nw grow up to be a peeping Tom or something!

Reminds me of a story I heard....Lady called police and said she could see from her upstairs window her next door neighbor exposing himself in his bathroom. When the police arrived and looked out the window they couldn't see anything. The lady told police to drag the barstool over to the window and take these binoculars and then have a look.

Doesn't anyone believe in curtains anymore?

Doesn't anyone believe in curtains anymore? My point exactly. Do what you want in your own house but if it involves nudity make sure people outside cannot see it. It is matter of respect. There was a child involved here. |

Wow. Talk about taking interpretation of the law to a whole new level. As someone said earlier, she and her kid should be charged for peeping in his windows to begin with.

God, really sensitive people really irk me.
I hate clothes, in my house, I'm known to be naked. It's my house, I pay for it... but granted... that is a reason I live on top floors, so I don't have peepers. Any idea what floor this guy lives on? |

1. walking by someone's house when the other person's windows aren't covered isn't peeping. it would be no different than if the man was outside or looking at a stores display window....therefore no crime
2. at 5 am I, myself, am not fully awake. the man may not have realized the windows weren't covered...therefore no crime. all that needed to be done was to let the guy know that the world can see his goods and to please cover the windows....but in a more tactful way |

So not only was this woman peeping in somebody's window and calling the police on them in their own house, but then she stood there and continued to watch! This woman is nothing but a pervert who is teaching her child to be the same. |

There was a child involved here. Don't misunderstand me, the woman peeping in the windows was actually doing something wrong, being a peeping Sue I guess. And if you do notice that, for God's sake, cover the kids eyes and move on, don't point it out in disgust. However, what about a little modesty. A little consideration for the rest of us. If it's brighter with your lights on indoors than it is outdoors, people can see right inside. Close the blinds at least, make the dirty old lady work at it. Of course, I live a mile away from my nearest neighbor, if they're looking in my windows, they're making an effort. |
