I love tattoos! I currently have 11 and am sure somewhere down the road I will get some more. Guess that happens when I grew up in a tattoo shop. :) I got some from a butterfly on the top of my foot, tribel on my neck, a tombstone on my back (it covered my ex husbands name), to an original nintendo controller on my arm. They all have special meaning to me and always tell a great story with the new people that I meet!

It's a fad. It will pass and then tattooing will go back where it belongs, to Sailors and Marines getting them in Singapore and Manila.

But hey if you want one go for it. Join the club.

What does being a Christian have to do with getting a tattoo or other body art? whoa

Getting a tattoo is nothing to take lightly. If you decide to get one, research the artist, have him draw your design and put it on the fridge for a few months so you see it every day. You will probably make a few changes -- if not many -- before you decide on a final sketch.

I wish you well -- and to avoid tattoo regret. smile2 Don't get bands, sports teams or anything trendy. sad2

I have pix of some of my ink in my profile. I started 21 years ago and the ink is still fresh without blurred lines or black ink turning green. I am VERY careful about who works on me and they need a stellar pedigree! drinker

Hers are hot.

Get a couple like hers - they look good.

I also recommend getting landscape style tattooing rather than spot tattooing wherein you just have one somewhere on your body with no other connection. The landscape style is modern and uses the curves of your body -- like wrapping around your shoulder, calf, ribs, etc, and uses context as well.

If you only see yourself getting one better make it a decent size... A guy with one tiny tattoo just looks like a fairy

As far as the price goes... you get what you pay for, remember that! A great tattoo by a great artist is going to cost you.

I think I will stick with looking like a fairy...laugh

No offense, just my opinion flowerforyou

Pain is subjective. No one can tell you how it will feel. Everyone is different. Granted, certain areas are predisposed to more nerve-sensitivity but, again, subjective.

Everyone and their dog tried to tell me my foot and wrist tatts would HURT so badly. *pfft* I barely felt the work being done. My ankh, however, took four hours and KILLED me. My adrenal glands and endorphins were spent. When my pain sensors shut down, I started shaking and I almost passed out. Thankfully I only had about 10 minutes remaining and set my mind up to finish. The power of the mind is incredible.

It will be a work in progress and will take up the left hand side of my chest and maybe some more...I have to start on the layout and design.

She is right.

Your mind can manipulate what hurts and what doesnt.

I want to get a sleeve on my left arm - and I have heard both sides of the pain vs. not painful camps.

Everyone has a different pain tolerance.

I have two koi carp, head to tail, one red, one blue, on my left shoulder blade, about 6/8 inches in diameter....symbolic for Pisces

I have 11 Kanji symbols from the nape of my neck following my vertebra down my spine...a story board....the symbol for dragon, (as I was born in the Chinese year of the dragon), then Om, then YinYang, then Strength, Wisdom, Altruism, Idealism, Mother, Daughter, Resilience, Compassion.

There will be more until they join the tribal dragon centred at the base of my spine above my butt.

I am contemplating getting larger art...I saw an amazing tattoo this morning, of a seahorse...a full body tattoo, travelling from the inside of the left ankle (the tail of the seahorse)...winding up the thigh, the curve of the hip, and onto the ribcage....stunning...

I have a girlfriend who is an incredible body artist, and I suspect she may have a new customer.. laugh
