I think that would be more like redefining what is important to you than "lowering standards".

No, I would't say lower them...but mayhap re-evaluate them to see if there is a possibility for comprimise...remember, nothing has to be all the way or no way at all.

I agree with re-evaluating what's important. Some things you may be able to be flexible with while others are deal breakers.

If you fall for someone beneath your "standards", then there is something wrong with the standards themselves, so, yes. I would say you need to take a deep long look into what you perceive as your own standards and readjust them, especially because they should not exist to make you distance yourself from people you are capable of falling in love with. All this goes on the assumption that you aren't falling for a heroine addict or something though...
