It seems like Penczak is using a great variation of knowledges of different ancient civilizations and combining them together for the reader to decide what works best for them.

I like that free option ability because everyone is influenced in different ways to enjoy what works best for them spiritually.

Perhaps the knowledge of every ancient civilization combined gives us the clues to the answers we seek if we can fit the pieces in the puzzle correctly.

Absolutely. Some people misunderstand Penczak and think that he's somehow suggesting that every little mythological tale is some sort of absolute truth. But if they truly read all that he actually says they would see that this is a completely false notion.

What Penczak does is treat all folklore with the respect that there 'may' be some truths assocaited with them. So he tosses everything at the reader including the kitchen sink.

But that doesn't mean that he necessarily buys into all these things himself. He's merely conveying the folklores and mythologies the best he can.

There's a lot of stuff that Penczak covers that holds no interest for me. I just take what works for me and leave what doesn't. And that's precisely what he actually teaches if the read actually pays attention.

I also have no problem changing things around associated with other authors that I've read. Even Penczak himself refers the readers to these other books and authors, some of whom clearly have ideas that appear to differ drastically from Pencak's presentations. Yet, at the core of the folklore the fundamental principles are the same.

I personally think it's uttely senseless to argue about differences between various folklores of Witchcraft, Faery Teachings, Shamanism, and even Eastern myticism or something as New Age as "The Law of Attraction"

From my point of view all of these things are saying precisely the same underlying truths. The only real differences between them are the facades they carry as a mythological 'costume'.

The names have been changed but the dieties are always the same, even if the "deity" is viewed as nothing more than a "Higher Self" or "High consciousness".

For me even the Sun and the Moon are just symbolic of the Sun and Mood Goddess, they represent these consciousnesses. They don't 'physically embody them. Just the same, as physical entities they become "real" physical symbols. And that can be very powerful.

Yay! A spot for me!
I was worried that it would be hard to find singles with a similar mindset.
Well I am a natural born Shaman learning how to work with it but mostly work with the here and now, since I have never really been able to be completely here and now.

Ruth, Ruth, Ruth!

I went out to a really quaint antique shoppe today. I took Netzach with me. We bought a beautiful holy grail for making holy water.

Owl have to take a picture of it later and post it.

It's clear crystal. It's about 6 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep. It has a flat bottom with no stem or foot. It has a handle on either side shaped like cup handles. It has a domed lid that sits down onto a flat recess. The upper edge of the mouth of the grail is "pointy" like flower petals. It's covered with intricate geometric designs. I love it! love

It's the perfect grail to hold my holy water. bigsmile

This was a rather unique find and it did kind of jump out at me.

When I first read the ritual for making Holy Water, I was attracted to it and I knew that it is something I need to do. This ritual is actually part of the lessons of Malkuth in Penczak's book.

Then you asked for a copy of the recipe and as I typed it in and enhanced it ever so slightly with previous lessons from the Faery Teachings I knew that I would need to make some Holy Water myself fairly soon. In fact, I'm well aware of precisely why this is happening at this point in time.

Anyway today, a friend of mine asked for a ride out to a city I haven't been to in a while. He needed to take care of some financial business. When we got to bank just before he went in he handed me a twenty for the ride. A few doors down from the bank was this quaint antique shoppe. So whilst my friend when into the bank Netzach and I strolled into the antique shoppe. I knew we were their to find a Holy Grail. I took my time and wandered through the shoppe looking at all their grails, they had quite a large selection of them. I found many of them to be to be quite attractive yet none of them truly called to me.

I found this one in the back of the story it called to me instantly like as if it had been sitting there waiting just for me to come along.

The price tag said $19.50 and I never carry cash, but today I had a twenty in my pocket that had just been handed to me moments earlier.

It was meant to be. bigsmile

This may sound a bit silly, since I've been studying witchcraft for almost a year now. But I've never really formalized my circle castings. In fact, I haven't cast all that many circles actually. Most of my work as being in the realm of meditations and shamanic journeying.

As I read up on Yesod though, I realize that working with magick is a very important part of all of this. I've been mostly "studying" rather than "practicing" witchcraft. In other words, I'm still fundamentally focusing on Hod. I can't seem to get away from Hod. laugh

Well, I've had my year-and-a-day of "study". Now I need to put in a year-and-a-day of actual practice.

In all this time I haven't truly written a Book of Shadows. I actually did start one, but only on the computer. When I write the actual book of Shadows I'm going to physically write it out by hand.

In any case, I need to write up my 'standard' circle-casting procedure. I have one that I use. Just the same, I was just now reading through some other ideas on the Interent. Here's a description I enjoyed reading:

http://www.collegewicca.com/BOSfiles/circle.html

I do cast my circles in a 'child-like' manner and so I like the idea of comparing it with a child setting up a 'tea party'. I think that's a really good mindset from which to cast a circle.

I just read another one too called a 'Dragon Circle'. It's specifially designed to call the elemental dragons. I think that's for special 'dragon work'.

In any case, now that I have a Holy Grail owl have to make some Holy Water pretty soon. So I may as well get busy and start up my Book of Shadows. I think I'm ready for this after having taken a full year to become a bit familiar with it all. I'm actually more enthused about it now than I was when I first began. Now I feel like I have a much deeper understanding of what's actually going on.
