Remembering Who We Are
'Brave Spirits'

Most of us are familiar with the idea that we
are not human beings having spiritual experiences; instead,
we are spiritual beings having human experiences.

We hear this and even though we may experience a resounding yes in our bodies,we may not take the time to really acknowledge the truth of these statements.

Integrating this idea into how we view ourselves can broaden our sense of who we are and help us appreciate ourselves as brave spirits on an important mission to learn and grow here on earth.

As spiritual beings, we are visitors in this physical realm.
The fact that we came here and lost all memory of what happened to us before we were born is one of the many reasons that it takes so much courage for a soul to incarnate on earth.

This is why spiritual inquiry so often feels like a remembering-because it is. Remembering that we are spiritual beings is part of the work that we are here on earth to do.

When we operate from a place of remembering,we tap into the wisdom that our spirit accumulated even before we stepped into this lifetime.

Remembering who we are can give us the patience to persevere when we become overwhelmed or frustrated. It can give us the courage to work through the most daunting challenges and help us trust the ancient wisdom we carry that is offered to us by our intuition.

We have chosen to be on earth because there is something
we want to learn that can only happen by inhabiting a body.
Some of us are here to repay a debt, learn about love, or teach forgiveness.

Most of us are here for a combination of reasons, we carry this information in our souls, all we have to do is remember.

As you go through your journey, try not to forget how brave you are, being here now.

Honor yourself and each other.

I was wondering about something this morning. The powers of a witch various that I know. Some use it for good and others for bad. Then we have some that are of very high degrees using magick.

Are any of the witches that come here in the forum ever worried that a curse or foul magick might come their way?

I mean down here in Miami the Haitians in particular are always worried about negative voodoo magick casted their way, so they visit a witch doctor often to make sure it won't happen to them.

Then when we look into Romania the gypsy business is huge. In every newspaper, television commercial, and magazines gypsies have their magicks to offer. The people who live there believe in this and often visit a gypsy. It is astonishing for there are some really rich gypsies who own multi million dollar homes over there conducting huge businesses with this art of style.

It goes from anything of handreadings, tarot cards, crystal ball, to rituals of sacrificing chickens or rabbits to help remove curses. Then also they create medaillions for protection.

I mean there are so many practices it would take many books to mention them all, but I thought I would show two different ones as a starter.

What are your thoughts on this?

What are your thoughts on this?

Witchcraft is just like anything else. It's just a label that anyone can use in any way they want.

Is it possible to prey on people's fears? Sure it is, just look at how sucessful Christianity has been! That religion truly doesn't amount to anything more than an attempt to sell people the protection of a witch named Jesus Christ.

Many people seek religion out of fear. People are afraid of evil spirits and evil spells cast by other humans. After all humans are spirits too!

I personally feel that this kind of thing a total sham. Both in the case of witchcraft and in the case of Christianity. It makes no difference what it's called, if it preys on people's fears it's the same thing.

For myself, I haven't turned to witchcraft for protection from evil spirits. Neither have I turned to it for salvation, redemption, or to be 'saved' from anything in any way. I have no need for salvation as far as I'm concerned. I've been ready to meet my maker since I was a very young child and that has never changed over the entire course of my life. I've always been ready to die. Perhaps this is why I don't fear death and can't understand why other people do.

I do believe that it is possible for people to 'cast spells' on other people. But only within a limited scope. And this is because I believe that I understand how it actually works.

For example, it would be impossible for a witch to cast a spell on a completely stranger. They would have absolutely no way to do it. It would be impossible simply because the mechanism require to make the spell work would not be in place.

The only way that one spirit can cast a spell on another spirit is if they have had an emotionally meaningful relationship. That could have been though love, or hate, or any other strong emotional relationship.

But that relationship must exist before any spells are even possible.

So the only spirits that can cast spells on a person are spirits who have already emotionally interacted with that person mutually. There had to be strong emotions emananting from both parties before a spell can work.

At least this is my understanding of how it works. So people who fear evil spells coming from people they don't even know are just suffering from unwarranted fears, IMHO.

I'm not big on casting spells on other people, unless they are spells of love and well-being, and in those cases it would be nice of the other person was also participating in those spells.

I also have no problem casting spells to keep people away whom I have had an emotionally unfortunate encounter with. These aren't spells made directly on them, but rather just spells that keep them away from me. It does no harm to them. Although, I've been doing that kind of spellwork my entire life, long before I even thought of them as 'spells'.

As Ruth often says, we all cast spells and do magick all the time, whether we realize it or not. Everyone is a wizard, most people just aren't aware of it.

In fact, perhaps wizard is a better word than witch. Deepak Chopra calls people wizards, but his teachings aren't truly all that different from witchcraft.

Or to put that another way, witchcraft is just a western style of eastern mysticism. I like the style and pantheons of European Celtic witchcraft. So that's what I go with. But underneath it all it's just the same thing that Deepak Chopra teachings from the Sanskrit Vedas of ancient India. It's all the same thing really.

Including the Mediterranean versions. Even Jesus was said 'cast out evil spirits'. Everything Jesus did amounted to nothing less than witchcraft. The story just got horribly preverted and twisted into a tale for a dire need for salvation versus damnation. It just got off track and became a horrible train-wrecked religion that ended up preying on the fears, guilt, and shame of it's followers.

I've currently been reading a book about chakras. And guess what. The first three chakras are held back by fear, guilt, and shame. Respectively in that order. And those are the three things that Christianity instills in people to prevent them from growing to the upper chakras of knowledge, creativity, and wisdom. ohwell

I guess I got a bit off track with the ramble, but in short, yes I think a lot of people use witchcraft in the same way that the church used Christianity. It's just another abused label.

I will come back later to give my opinions on cursing and hexing. But I will say now that as a former LAPD Officer (13 years) and a practicing witch, fraud runs rampant in the "magickal" community. I use quotation marks because they are not really magickal. Anyone who offers to sell you a fix for your "curse" is a fraud.

I agree that many use witchcraft or for that matter religion or spiritual practices for business purposes. For some it feeds their families. Just go to Romania and you will see.

Now what I really want to know is it proven or a fact that a spell can be casted onto someone. James mentions that it is only possible if their was a connection or relationship with the person. So I have one opinion that it is possible, but only with a type of relation if it is hatred or love.

Now the voodoo magick that witch doctors practice say they don't need an actual relation yet need to have some sort of picture to where they stick on a doll to practice a curse spell. I found this interesting that the Haitian community, which is farely large in Miami, fear such magick of a black magick wizard.

I think if one instills their mind on this fear then anything can come real, yet if you don't pay mind to it, the chances are less likely.

but can there be real evidence that it can work onto someone that doesn't believe in it? That would be great to know.

And to a different subject. laugh

My hats off to you Ruth for being a cop in one of the most dangerous cities in the nation and for 13 years that is really an achievement. I live in Miami and can only say that these cops over here have their hands full with crime all year round. My hats off to the good cops who keep our streets safe and to you for the service you have given us.

While I am typing this I once interviewed a private detective who was once a cop. I interviewed him because I wanted to know more about the history of detective work and the actual job they do. It was a good interview because I wanted at the time to write a detective book thriller but make it believable of course. I never got past the first chapter of course because I just don't have the main experience of being a cop. So what am I leading to here? Have you ever thought to write a novel prior to your work experience? I mean with 13 years that can bring one heck of a great book to read. If it is a biography or just a fiction story.

As far as curses go, a couple of things can happen for them to work.

First, I agree with James when he says there has to be an emotional connection between the cursed and the curser. This is because magick requires a great deal of emotion, whether it be love, hate, need or strong desire, in order to work. And, it's very hard, if not impossible, to stir up that kind of emotion for someone who you don't know.

If you don't have that emotional connection, what you can use is someone's fear. And, that's what most people use who sell these kinds of spells. They sell curses and they sell the cure for the curses. The spell works because the person believes they have been cursed and then bad things begin to happen to them. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Voodoo or Voudoun is a religion. And, like most religions, the religious clergy, I think they are called Orishas, perpetuate the belief in curses and evil spirits (I'm not saying they're aren't evil spirits) in order to perpetuate the religion and the need for the clergy. I'm sure they do not believe they are doing this anymore than a Catholic priest believes he is instilling fear into his parishoners in order to perpetuate Catholicism. But, it is, in my opinion, what they are doing.

The reason for using a picture of the intended target is to establish as much of a connection as possible to that target. It is even better to use something that actual belongs to the target. Again, I don't think it would work very well on a stranger because of the lack of a connection, but that's what it's attempting to do. I suppose if you were very talented in bringing about the needed emotion and you had the item belonging to the target you might be able to do some damage.

I don't write my biography because I'm too lazy. laugh

But, if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask. My years on the police force were generally good ones and I learned more about human nature than I ever wanted to know.

And, yes, I did shoot someone once. But, he started it.

I am very lucky to have never hold a gun in my life. I never touched one at all in my 41 years of life, yet I have been shot at one time in Congo and it hit me in my kneecap. I am lucky to be alive to enjoy my family today.

I am the opposite of any type of violence leaning towards pacifism, yet understand the importance of how our streets need to maintain order in which the police does a pretty good job in most countries.

Concerning a novel, I will stick to the sword and sorcery novels as that only requires my own imagination. It is much easier for me. laugh drinker

Here is a interestic question. Let us see how far we can take it. Now I ask a question but please don't give a question back, but instead give your interpertation of what you think the question holds or means.

Are we all spirits of the same dimension, or do you think we each hold different levels?

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by dimension or levels. I believe that we are here (on earth in human form) for our spirits (our true selves) to learn and grow and evolve. With that belief I believe we are all at different stages in our development. Once we have evolved to the point where we have learned all we can learn from this type of existence then we will not come back.

When it comes to the questions asked about the spirit and its dimensions then we can safely agree that everyone has different opinions about it. I believe every answer that someone gives has some value to it even it it sounds unreasonable to others.

I do believe that supernatural events can happen that cannot be explained and perhaps for good reason for we are a wreckless race aren't we. It might be good that we don't know some of the hard questions we have been asking for thousands of years.

In the end if I am to tell the truth, I simply can only say, I don't know what happens when we pass away, if we have a spirit - I know we have feelings, and can feel pain or happiness.

I don't know if there are truly any dimensions either. Perhaps there are some and maybe there are not.

Nevertheless, it truly is interesting to see the different opinions on the matter, as of the different belief systems that go with it.

It is a good thing and at the same time a bad thing, because it provides for some internal struggles leading to atrocities as we can read and study concerning history. It also brings happiness and harmony also for some. I know that there is a dire need to instill in everyones minds that it is important to have an "open mind" to possiblities and opinions. If I had one wish granted to me then I would ask to instill the education of keeping an open mind to different possibilities that abandon bigotry, negative judgement, and ignorance in this world. This could lead to a more harmonious world that could lead to better inventions to provide a safer planet and even greater possiblities to know more in the end.
