after listening to her...
tell us..
she did not expect to be here..
in this place...
at this time...
43..single...never been married....no children..
working a full time job..
when she only wants to work part-time..
that there are 'no' men out there...
that she can't remember the last time she had sex..
let alone the company of an interesting man...

when she had exhausted herself with the above plus...

because in reality i thought-think she could change any of those things if she truly wanted to...

so I asked her...who she thought was leading her charmed life?

answer..Angelina Jolie..said laughingly but told her time to get real.

So then, by that logic, we are all responsible for our own sadness too.

People living their lives for you on tv
They say theyre better than you and you agree
He says hold my calls from behind those cold brick walls
Says come here boys, there aint nothing for free
Another doctors bill, another lawyers bill, another cute cheap thrill
You know you love him if you put him in your will, but ...

Who will save your soul when it comes to the flowers now
Who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you wont save your own?

We try to hustle them, try to bustle them, try to cuss them
The cops want someone to bust down on orleans avenue
Another day, another dollar, another war, another tower
Went up to where the homeless had their homes
So we pray to as many different gods are there are flowers
But we call religion our friend
Were so worried about saving our souls
Afraid that God will take his toll that we forget to begin but

Who will save your soul when it comes to the flowers now
Who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you wont save your own?

Some are walking, some are talking, some are stalking their kill
You got social security, but that dont pay your bills
There are addictions to feed and there are mouths to pay
So you bargain with the devil, say youre o.k. for today
You say that you love them, take their money and run
Say, its been swell, sweetheart, but it was just one of those things
Those flings, those strings youve got to cut
So get out on the streets, girls, and bust your butts

Who will save your soul when it comes to the flowers now
Who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you wont save your own?

The only one that can make changes within our lives where we are at this point and time is us... all depends how much one really wants those changes and what they are willing to do........

We are responsible for our own happiness.

Which is really very freeing. We are not victims of "destiny".

Ultimately, yes.

**** happens, sometimes it makes us sad. When my mother passed away, I had mood swings, crying fits and came pretty close to offing myself. Am I responsible for feeling that way? Or was seeing my mom bleed out in the shower just the most tragic and horrifying day in my life?

See, we can control our mood, but life's comedies and tragedies affect our emotions.

**** happens, sometimes it makes us sad. When my mother passed away, I had mood swings, crying fits and honestly, without a few key factors, I wouldn't be alive today. Hell, I still have a hard time with it.

We can control our mood, but life's comedy's and tragedy's affect our emotions.

And I'm yet to understand how something beyond anyone's control can affect their emotions...humans, such silly creatures sometimes...

Things that happen that affect our emotions are related to chemicals that are dumped into our brains.
Fear causes the flight or fight response.
Lust causes the body to flush, the pulse to speed up, the pupils to dilate.
Shock causes the body temp to drop, the pupils to dilate, the lips to pale out.
Pain causes the pulse to speed up, so does panic.
How do you control that? You can't. It's the bodies response to stimuli. These things are connected to the emotions. My question is if you were never taught what the emotions attatched to the physical reactions were, would they be different?

yes, it would be different -- if you were not taught, raised and aware of your emotions (having a good emotional IQ)... your emotions would rule your life... some folks have a harder time stepping outside of themselves, and understanding what role emotions are playing in their life...

I enjoy feeling emotions, I simply try to understand them - and not let them rule my life...

Yes, we are ultimately responsible for our own happiness, and sadness... least we become slaves to our emotions (what a train wreck that would be)....

They are quite different...trust me. Takes a good whack from a car to forget about them, but it is quite different.

We can not control everything that happens in our lives, others have their choices too. We do unconsciously pull in people and circumstances for the learning they provide us. We always have the choice of how we will respond to everything that comes. We are never given problem without a gift..we receive the problem for the gift it contains, if we allow it....

Very good point, I have always felt EVERYTHING going on in my life and would choose to feel the good with the bad than not feel anything at all.

Well isn't that great, I didn't know that I was entitled to a gift as soon as she was done bleeding out in the shower. Where can I pick that up?

...Are you serious? That kind of stuff works great for after school specials, but in the real world, not so much. Sometimes there's a positive to the negative and sometimes people just die.

That's funny, I have an opinion, it's just a jaded one.

I guess I must be jaded because I don't see the positive in seeing the person I love most say "I'm passing out," as they lose consciousness, slump into a pool of their own blood and die.

Why don't you help me out with my jaded young mind and tell me what gift I'm missing out on?

You need professional help, talking about something like that in these forums isn't going to help you at all.

She didn't die alone.
You were there.

Now you know how quick life can pass, in front of your very eyes.
So you can take that and learn from it.
Grab for all the 'gusto' you can in life, or realize that so much of what passes for important in modern life means nothing.
