I was talking to a friend via email today...and a thought struck me.

Of all the guys I know, I am the least " guy " like.

I don't sit around drinking beer. Hell...I rarely drink at all.

I am not completely fascinated by boobs. They are nice and all, and I can appreciate a nice pair just like other guys. But they don't completely mesmerize me.

I'm not into watching porn.

I don't find toilet humor, or the Jackass show/movies funny in any way.

Considering the fact that women, for the most part, expect guys to appreciate a fart joke, or look at their chests rather than their face when they are trying to have a conversation....

Should I just pack up and go home???

I mean, I like sports and stuff...but that's about it.

Ah HA!!! Now I understand why all of my brother's gay friends love me...lol

and u thought they were being polite? bigsmile

Nahhhh. They have told me quite few things ( WAY into the Too Much Information area ) that let me know that " polite " wasn't what they had in mind....lmao

But I can't be one of those guys. And I wouldn't want to be with someone who wanted one of those guys....

Ya know...I'm not sure that there are a whole lot of women who would actually want one of " those " guys.

In a lot of cases, I think they more or less just accept it as things that " guys " do. Regardless of whether it annoys them or not.

I would be willing to bet that there are a lot more of " those " guys out there than there are of us. So if a woman didn't want one of " those " guys, her options would be even more limited than they are already.

ooooooo ooooooooo i want one o "those" guys blushing

I stare at boobs if they're on display. We all do. Same with moobs, but that is a staring, morbid fascination issue. laugh

But, I don't think about them on any sort of a regular basis. Either kind.

As far as the rest goes... be glad. Glad that you don't behave like a child.

I am.

As far back as Middle School, I have ALWAYS been glad that I didn't think the way the guys around me did because I always thought they sounded like a bunch of buffoons.

Yeah, I agree, there are definitely more of "then" than "us."

But, even as a "limited edition," I can't find anybody interesting or even vaguely compatible. The only conclusion I can arrive at is that "those guys" are in demand, for whatever reason.

And here we were always told that " limited edition " items were always more valuable...lol

Listen up, gents. (JAG and Lexy)

Some women settle. Some women want the material things a man offers. Some women just don't want to be alone. Some boys are encouraged by their peers to behave like baffoons.

Whatever you do.... don't think that quality women want a boy in the body of a man. However, being passionate about things can be a good thing. Like sports... it is a good stress outlet. If it's taken to the extreme to do the body paint thing, a life might be needed!laugh

LOL!!!

Well, considering that I have those " moobs " that you spoke of,the chances of me painting my body and going shirtless at the stadium are non existent.

As far as the " settle " part. Like I said, I think some women just don't know any different. Either they grew up around guys like that, or the guy friends they have are like that. Whatever the case may be, they just expect guys to be like that, so they just deal with it.

I'm not saying that it's a really awful thing, nor am I actually complaining in this thread.

I just had the thought strike me and I KNEW that I couldn't be the only guy that thought like I do about stuff like that.

I saw a few come more come out of the woodwork, so all is good.

I think being passionate is a great thing -- I'm passionate about my writing, but nobody gets it. To them, it's "intimidating." That's the word that gets used the most.

What does this mean? Would I be "intimidating" if I was drunk, in a smoke-filled garage, pulling spark plugs out of an engine, with three other shirtless guys, while we all talked about how big some celebrity's knockers are?

Women don't find that "intimidating," I'm sure, but I don't know how they really see it. Typical? Endearing? Some sort of ideal? I don't know. Probably they all have some sort of individual take on it.

All I know is those guys are doing better than I am. Maybe they're just more passionate about drinking and messing with spark plugs.

Lexy.... it's okay. I once had a guy ask me about my political views. I answered in about 4-5 minutes....

He was staring at me, then said, "I don't think I've ever been that passionate about anything in my whole life".

Now, I'm not super passionate about politics, but I do care. His response, well, at least I knew it was over. I can't be with someone that doesn't have beliefs about which they have knowledge, interest, and the ability to effectively express themselves.

And I don't get how men can drink beer but not wine. Sigh... but that's just a general complaint. It's like why they can talkabout knockers in the gay-rage, but they think Desperate Housewives is evil.

I agree with the premise, but the reality of it is, in my experience, most women run away screaming from a guy who has "knowledge, interest, and the ability to effectively express themselves."

They don't WANT that. They want a guy who is either a sitcom dad, or who can easily be converted into one.

To get into the "passionate" thing for a moment -- I know few people who are really passionate about anything -- some are passionate about destroying as many of their brain cells as quickly as possible, some are passionate about accumulating material objects, an inordinate amount are passionate about simple biology (as if there's something noble about emulating a tree shrew) --

But when it comes to anything creative or intellectual -- ?? Forget it.

I know people who are passionate about tanning and pedicures and making sure they have exactly the right shade of nail polish. Just don't ask them to read or write or think.

OK, girl response here of why we might choose "those" guys, although I'm throwing a disclaimer in here that I'm about as far from your typical girl as you two (Lex and JAG) are from typical guys and do not speak for women in general.

I think from my undercover observations among other females, some are looking for that type of man because when things go wrong, as they more often than not sadly do, they can place the blame on the man's imbecile behaviors. Well, he drank too much, he spent too much time watching sports, he didn't provide for me the way he should have, whether that's in the bedroom, bank account, or emotional arena. If they hook up with someone successful, confident, stable and it doesn't work, who do they have to blame but themselves? Wow, he's this fantastic guy so it must be me that's phucked up. Most people don't want to feel that way about themselves so instead of taking a chance that they MIGHT just be good enough for you, they avoid the possibility altogether; rather settle for the idiot smashing a bud can on his head and drooling over boobs, doesn't take much to please him now does it?!ohwell

Maybe it's just me...I've always been an odd duck. I'm going back to my secret underground lab now to work on the perfect man. If you two could send DNA samples, that would be spectacular. Be thankful that you're not like "those" guys.

Hmm. I like drinking beer, I laugh at fart jokes, I don't have an issue with porn (meaning it doesn't bother me if a guy likes it) and will look at boobs if they're out there. laugh
