I'd love to have a clothesline in my backyard because there is absolutely nothing that beats the smell of linen dried in sunshine and breezes.

But my homeowners association doesn't allow clotheslines. Apparently in their mind a clothesline equals ghetto. What will they think of next? ohwell

Now that's not very fair. Shouldn't a person have a right to dry their clothes their way? I mean...the clothes are getting dried either way. And some clothes can't be dried in the dryer. Wow!

It is upsetting that one can finally be a proud homeowner, just to come to find out that these HOAs have more restrictions than any apartment complex. Crud!! They can tell you if you can have a satellite dish, how many trees you must have, what kind and where to plant them, and what wood you may use for a fence, if you can HAVE apool, what kind of pool, where to park your vehicles, where NOT to fix your car, when you can mow.... the list goes on. Most people are so eager to close on their new homes that they don't actually read the minutes and rules of the HOAs. You can LOSE YOUR HOUSE and be sued by your HOA for non-compliance.

I'd get kicked out of the neighborhood..... It would be like sitting in front of a bright red do not push button. All those rules so little time. Id open a pool for how long it would take to get run out of the neighborhood. laugh laugh

HOA can kiss my ***.That's nothing but a form of oppression.I'm sorry to hear that.In regards to Jaxx's comment, that is intolerable.I have 3 things that tower above my patio.1)Sun umbrella 2)An American flag 3)Boston Bruins flag.Would I ever remove any of them? Not in this lifetime.I served my country honorably & my flag is sacred to me.Godspeed!Cy  flowerforyou

My son lived in a neighborhood that had the HOA as well they were told they were not suppose to park their company trucks out by the curbs they really did not even want them parked in the subdivisions shshsh not like it was a 18 wheeler. Ohh and they could only put out so many trash cans on each trash pick up days.whoa Hellooooooo needless to say he moved told them where to stick it good thing he was only renting there. No wonder there was so many empty houses in that area.noway

I seriously don't get what makes the folks at the hoa think they have the right to have any say in how others choose to live.

retort "Oh noes my property value!!"

Reply to retort,
"STFU and get off my lawn or ill get my shotgun! Don't come back you removed the stick from your rear!

I have a clothesline and use it all spring summer and fall. I love it. Clothes are kinda stiff, but the freshness is awesome.

Someone dooes keep stealing my boxers if I leave them out all night. Should I worry? biggrin

In Coral Springs Florida, where I grew up, they are very picky about that kind of thing. All of the businesses have to be a certain color scheme, and have a certain amount of native plant landscape design.

No company trucks parked in front of homes, and also it is the only place in the world that doesnt allow Mc Donalds to have the golden arches, because the city considers it to be "gaudy".
