I'd love to have a clothesline in my backyard because there is absolutely nothing that beats the smell of linen dried in sunshine and breezes. But my homeowners association doesn't allow clotheslines. Apparently in their mind a clothesline equals ghetto. What will they think of next? I have a clothesline and use it all spring summer and fall. I love it. Clothes are kinda stiff, but the freshness is awesome. Someone dooes keep stealing my boxers if I leave them out all night. Should I worry? nah. i'll give em' back when i'm done. ;p Ah Hah. I caught you. Can I have my Speedo back as well. |

Pretty soon breathing on our own will be considered a bad habit, man will have something better to improve our breathing experience. Experience our new BREEZER the better way to oxygen your body. |

I am a dim watt you know. Racing stripes? You got me on that one, I didn't know I had them either..but if you like them, I will take credit for them. :) |

Anytime you deal with an "association" know its just another word for old jerks.

i like having an hoa. i didn't think i would but mine works exactly how it should. there are no unmowed or weed-filled lawns or ridiculous yard art here. nobody paints their house a weird color to "make a statement". nobody has a crappy-looking garage-to-room conversion. and they patrol for criminals even though it's a good area.
they pretty much stay out of the way until someone does something stupid. i could probably get away with a clothesline as long as it wasn't visible from the street...not that i have that urge. |

I love the smell of clothes that have been drying on the line. It's been years since I had 1. I live in a condo and I agree with most of you about some of the rules. I understand why some rules are in place and it keeps the condos exterior and community area looking good. I do not agree with some of the rules, but I have behaved as there is a fine if you get caught breaking the rules. If I ever own a house, for sure it won't be part of an association. All I will have to be concerned with is the city or township ordinaces. I will have a clothes line again, but also a fenced in yard so no one will see it anyway. That's just a hope for the future. Besides the clothesline, I want to feed strays if I choose to, against the rules here,
By law no one can make a rule that you can not fly old glory outside of your premises, other hanging things yes,but not the flag. |

All I will have to be concerned with is the city or township ordinaces. most of my hoa rules are pretty much just repeats of city code. the difference is that the hoa acts much faster to enforce them. plus, we have a nice pool |

Here, on this site, we have rules, and those rules have to be followed, simply because it's a privately owned website. But now, out in the "real world" ( i hate that term, because it asserts those of us on the net aren't real) When you purchase a piece of property, then that property belongs to you. You are the administrator of that property, no one else..just you. The only exception to that, is the growing, sale, or transfer of illegal drugs, stolen property etc. What you face here, is a city ordinance, resistance futile, and you will lose. You could actually win..but the costs would outweigh the issue.. Epic Fail. On the other hand..there are retractable clotheslines, i installed one for my mom..this one spans 48 feet..and if your local law enforcement is that anal, then it would likely be tossed out of court..city ordinances, almost never prevail over Federal and State law..in fact, in Ga..i'm not sure it ever has. |
