Thomas3474....did you stop to think that maybe they aren't attracted to everyone???? maybe it's not the gays that are the problem...but the homophobes that stereotype No rose it's the idea that you are stuck on a command for 4-6 years with people you spend more time with then your own families. All this liberal non sense that somehow we have to accept everyone and their lifestyle and like it is nothing but a pile of BS.Birds of a feather flock together and the military has never been a gay friendly origination. The military has a good image of rough, tough, brave, and second to none.I don't think anyone wants to see that image brought down by a bunch of homo's who want gay pride parades on bases, drag queen nights at the NCO club, and all the other problems they complain about. They don't belong. Man you are one insecure puppy, Thomas. You don't have one clue what your talking about. Check out your own pic on this site buddy, you look more gay than some of the gay men I know, and they aren't as insecure as you are. You admitted you are afraid someone will think your gay!! Typical. What does'nt belong is extreme ignorance, and your comments qualify in spades. Rough tough and brave? so only straight men are rough tough and brave? That makes no sense at all considering gays have served in the military for years including in the wars that Cabot mentioned. Come visit me some time, Thomas, I'm gay and a woman, let's see how your comments work to my face. |

pfft...I'm a straight woman and I doubt many people would say these things to my face either. the people that know me in real life...know I'm worse about speaking my mind and I don't back down. I am a force to be reckoned with

you know what I see when I see a soldier or a vet???? someone that loves this country and is willing to die for our freedoms. I don't see that in here....and I'm becoming VERY disillusioned by it. male, female, gay or straight...if they can pass they physicals and boot camp and can do the job....they ALL should have the right to fight for our country. it seems to me that homophobes are the ones with the problems and can't do the jobs they need to do because of stereotyping and worrying that they will get hit on. come on....do you REALLY think you are all that to have someone that is gay want you that bad???? My dad served and died because he loved this country and wanted the freedoms this country has to offer. He was proud to do so...and if that meant getting in a foxhole with anyone...he wold do that. he would do his job the way he is supposed to with anyone Yellow? I think your dad had some barriers. I thank him for his service. So do you not agree, it should be up to the current active soldiers what the policy is? Not us or Washington or the State Department.? Just asking. Disillusioned? About what? Gay people have not been universally accepted yet. Don't force it down a soldiers brain. jmo why???? why shouldn't they have the right to fight for this country just like you???? because you don't like it???? no. they should have the rights just like everyone else as long as they (themselves) can do their job. how are they forcing it on anyone???/ it's their business just like it's your business that you are straight. I'm disillusioned that people would actually not want someone serving their country just because someone doesn't like them. I don't know what barriers you are referring to with my dad. so what if people don't accept them...people didn't accept blacks for a long time and thought women should only be barefoot and pregnat. but who's problem is that????? yours Rose the problem is when you are on a aircraft carrier with 4000 men and no women you don't want to see two guys having sex when you get out of the shower. You don't want to get hit on,asked out on dates,or see them checking you out when you are taking a shower. This is the very reason men and women don't serve on the majority of ships in the Navy.It turns into a giant orgy.It creates problems, lowers moral, and distracts people from their mission. It may not be any of your business what people do in their own homes but when you are in the Military everyone on that command lives in the same house and what one person does everyone has to put up with.It is no different than sleeping under a guy who smells all the time.Everyone has to put up with it.If you have one guy who smells all the time on a boat with 300 men everyone is going to have to put up with him.Same with gay men. If there was a health club that was only for lesbians or only for gay men would you go there? No.Why would you?You know that if you go you are going to get checked out, hitted on,or possibly touched.Straight men wouldn't go because they don't want to deal with that BS. |

C'mon people, military people are telling you the "don't ask, don't tell" policy works. Do you really want to change that now? in the current situation with Muslims, that have ZERO tolerance for gays. Thomas has said his piece and so have I, and have been ridiculed by people for it. Whatever, Go see your recruiter tomorrow and shut up. I served 8 years and will not shut up. I have earned the right to speak, so have others. Happy ****ing Fourth of July. You can't have your way yet. Deal with it. Go to Camp Pendalton and say what you are saying here Boo. I dare you. |

C'mon people, military people are telling you the "don't ask, don't tell" policy works. Do you really want to change that now? in the current situation with Muslims, that have ZERO tolerance for gays. Which military people would that be. I see a few former military, but this is not former times this is now. Again I suggest you read the OP and see what current military personnel are saying. That's who I listen to speaking both here and in my personal life. As for the Muslims zero tolerance, that's their problem and I don't see any reason to run our military based on their beliefs. |

and people wonder why I've become disillusioned about our soldiers and vets???? because of BS like this.
don't forget...soldiers fight for our country and freedoms...not just who they pick and chose to fight for. THAT IS WHAT A REAL SOLDIER DOES |

so to the vets in here...why exactly did you decide to serve???

Just because you don't see a need for change doesn't mean it isn't time for one. Personally I would not want to serve with a dumb A$$, I can handle someone sexual orientation but I have a difficult time dealing with Stupid! And the fact that we are dealing with Muslims who hate gays, just makes it far more brave of gays to serve but I bet that had not crossed your mind. Of course not, your too busy worrying about sex. If you don't want to be riduculed try not ridiculing yourself. I frankly don't give a crap what happens with don't ask don't tell, because gays will serve anyway whether you like it or not. The fact that they can't tell just shows me that some men are not as tough as they pretend. So you deal with it... I don't need to go anywhere to know that there are men who are really little boys when it comes to this topic. |

My ex was in the Army. He was also in the Army National Guard for almost 20 years. He told me that there were gays there. He had no problem with them.
