So, we've discussed whether or not a person can love or be "in love" with someone they've never met face to face... So what about "hate"? Can you really hate that person who annoys you on the Forums or in cyber? Which is stronger...love or hate...& is any of it real when posting with strangers? How can you love or hate a total stranger??? Like you said they can "annoy" you. |

Hate is the more defined between the two, can be stronger just depends what someone does with it. I don't hate anyone, and only despise one person...but he has absolutely nothing to do with this site. I don't think you can be in love with someone you've never met face to face, and the same applies to hate. You can dislike someone, but hate is more personal than a few e-mails or forum correspondence. Well said. |

How can you love or hate a total stranger??? Like you said they can "annoy" you. oh, i wasn't thinking about a 'total stranger' but rather just someone you've spoken to online. it's amazing how well you can get to know someone by staying up for hours, night after night, watching their expressions on cam. providing they are being truthful and honest, it's just as easy getting to know someone online than it is in real life, if not more so since i think the screen offers you a little bit of security in how open you are. also, with the physical out of the way, the concentration really is on what you say, and how the other person 'listens'. |

Which is stronger...love or hate...& is any of it real when posting with strangers? "Hate is easy but Love needs courage" Personally i feel love is stronger because the only think that can stop "HATE" is love!. I do think it takes real courage to love, but it takes a true hero to admit love for someone they think they hate. As for the second part of the question.....personally i feel that you can't really fall in love with a person without meeting them because otherwise you are just in love with some imaginary fantasy in your head. Without meeting the person, you just build up that person and put him/her on a pedestal whereas the real person is going to be nothing like that. So basically, you'll "be in love" or be infatuated with a version of the person you've made up in your head. "You can't be in love with a stranger but you sure can have a huge crush for them!!" |

I can decide I may like someone online, but would never fall in love until meeting them and spending a good deal of time with them in person.
As far as hating someone, I try not to hate, have had some really strong dislikes for some people. Okay, my ex fit the hate category, but he really earned it. I have run into some real idiots online that attacked me in e-mail and called me names and other things, I wouldn't say I hated them, but I sure did wonder about their sanity. One a couple of weeks ago was "way out in left field." Had another guy call me vulgarities because he has become "jealous and possessive," obviously is a controlling type of person, the exact type of person I don't like. |

I think that in RL or cyber to "hate" takes a lot of emotion... My father always told me "hate takes emotion, so if you hate someone you must have cared about them at some point to draw up that kind of emotion"... That put a different perspective on the word "hate" for me... I may dislike but I don't give someone I don't care for, enough of my emotions to hate them... Agreed...however, I do find it interesting that IMO, I see many more professing "love" rather than hate...shouldn't love be given the same careful consideration? (referring to the "love gushers" on the Forums who haven't met yet) I love papersmile but I'm not very good at gushing there are a lot of people here that I like. I'm sure I piss some of em off here and there just like I do my friends in real life there are a couple of people on here that I really don't like and I just dont have the kind of manners that keeps me from telling them but there isn't anybody anywhere that I hate I must agree with this well except Papersmile I like ya not love ya hehehehe Hate is a very strong word I have had run ins with some that I will admit I do not care much for but I do not hate them maybe pity them for they can't see the words they spew and the harm it does to others. Or even at times how they misjudge others. But..........that is for them to live with not me. Most that meet me and really get to know the true me will find out real quick that I treat others the way they treat me. I grew up being taught that if you hate others that hate will eat you alive through the years. Therefore I was taught to just forgive them and learn to move on. And I have tried to teach my kids the same way I don't even like to hear them say they hate anything dislike I can understand but not to hate. Everyone is different in their own ways but why let hate make you a bitter person within when it is just as easy to forgive and move on don't let another stir that much emotion within unless it is for the good. |
