Here are a few comments based on the posts I have read today. When did it become a constitutional right to have working television? Nothing is ever free someone is paying for it. If Obama wants the government to keep the banks, auto industry, and health insurance companies honest, then who is gonna keep the government honest? Should'nt most of yall be tending to your organic garden composting and what not? Is Al Gore still around or did he spontaneously ignite and turn into CARBON!?! I have a headache, good nite.

No, No, contemporary TV programs that were broadcast, "Free TV"
ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, could be heard on radios that were equipped to receive those analog signals. Now its all digitally broadcast, no analog signal to receive.

My brother and sis-in-law used to do that in IN.
Seems to be a lost breed of people who like to use their imagination.

Books on tape are very close to it.

Nothing like some good fertilizer to help seeds grow, huh T?!?
Where's that manure!?! hehehehehe

I set my mom up with a DTV box a couple of months ago in anticipation of the switch over.

LO and behold, the changeover comes and NOW she can't pick up any of her channels, mostly because the box has to be rescanned (they went through some last-minute change in format and stuff) so that she can pick up what she lost.

Of course, in the part of town which I live, it's next to impossible to get any signal from the networks on my DTV converter, and this goes despite the fact I should be getting a helluva strong signal!

So yeah- DTV sucks. The FCC shoulda figured stuff out a little more before they went for the changeover.

i really don't care about how they broadcast the channels. You can rap a piece of turd into silk , it's still a turd.

Man alive! I returned to Iowa last summer after a while away, and saw the new DTV box TV's when I got back. Now mind you, this was during a hellish early summer rash of storms: tornadoes and floods galore!

The slightest wind would stall out the TV, so when there were tornado warnings, we had to have a scanner to listen to. What sense is it to force us into Digital when the kinks aren't worked out. This could very well come down to a life or death situation, with DTV being responsible for catastophic effects.

And THAT is the reason why we should "expect" a working over-the-airwaves television system. It's not only for the entertainment value, but also for public safety as we need the ability to get such things as emergency broadcasts and other quite pertinent bits of live information without delay or interruption.

For the feds to totally botch the DTV transfer the way they have thus far is just inexcusable.

You know...I never thought of the emergency aspect of it...I think The Switch is gonna suck for quite a few people...especially the ones in rural areas...scared
