Handle brought up an interesting point in the Ancient Astronaut thread about meeting an advanced race of aliens and eating something that raised human consciousness. This theme was was the storyline behind the 1954 movie Forbidden Planet where mankind has found a dead planet once populated by aliens who had invented the ultimate "mind reading" technology. Great movie.

The theme of the movie is the concept of reading the mind using technology, and then providing infinite power to recreate, in reality, what the mind is thinking. Unfortunately, for the aliens, giving the subconscious mind (the id) infinite power is not a good idea. The human subconscious is far more powerful and has access to far more resources than the conscious mind. The story was a far into the future version of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and is considered by many as one of the greatest science fiction movies ever made.

I guess this requires some explanation. Brown University implanted a chip into this paralyzed man's brain. The chip controlled the cursor on a computer. He could then do anything he could tell the computer to do. This technology is evolving very rapidly.

Every thought, every emotion emits energy... a frequency not seen by the eye.. but there just the same (similar to how we cannot SEE the music around us, but turn on a radio and you can tune into so many many frequencies ~ allowing you to choose what you wish to hear).

To mind read, one must learn to tap into the frequency being emitted by the person they wish to read. Some are able to do this at will.. for those they are closest too.. others can do it for a larger number of people..

I had a root canal done awhile back. I think the dentist put a chip under the new crown because everytime I get near a computer I have to go to Mingle to see what's going on. {But, seriously this is very interesting and I'm not making fun.}

But of course, and I have read studies tested many many many people who were at GREAT distance, twins, married couples,parents strangers, and yes proven specific, from recieving an image shown to the subjects, to words spoken..

Yeah Earthy, the evidence is overwhelming. The "problem" (if you want to call it that) is in reproducing the conditions in a laboratory. Sometimes the conditions just aren't right because we don't know how it works.

The History Channel has a special on how the CIA is researching on mind reading. It should be interesting if you are into that kind of stuff. If you don't get to it, the historychannel website probably sells the dvd to the show if you like.

The original Star Trek was done somewhat on the cheap. Roddenberry couldn't justify not using the pilot for something so they rewrote the pilot into a two part episode called "The Menagerie". The story was about the first captain of the Enterprise who was a vegetable. The "mind reading" technology partially described in the epasode is happening now. We can now do more than than they showed on the episode.
