How exactly does what gay people do, infringe on the rights of anyone else?

Dunno.

My question is that if it's against your religion (which is the #1 reason I hear), what do you care if someone else is a sinner and going to hell? I understand that it's part of religion to recruit, but if they essentially say no, what skin is that off your nose?

Yet another cop out response.I am not in the minority here.Check the voting record. At least I have to guts to say what the majority of Americans want to say.

You really have no more of an idea what the majority of americans think than I do. You can not go by votes when so many don't vote in the first place.

That is the biggest cop out I have heard so far.If people are too lazy or don't give damn to vote than they have no right to complain.I know if the people did win and the votes passed for gay marriage you would be saying "the majority of the people voted so that is the end of it".Why you can't accept the fact that majority rules when it comes to voting issues is not only selfish and wrong but it is stands against everything this country was found on.

I'll remind you that the Supreme Court once ruled that Negroes were only 3/5 of a person. And if the southern states were allowed to decide issues by referendum, blacks would probably still be slaves today.

We have come a long ways since then.Debating things that happened 80 or 100 years ago has no relevance in regard to todays issues.

I don't judge others for loving someone else, whether it be man or woman. Love is love.

Having said that, I don't live in California so I could not have voted on it. I asked a few straights know in LA if they voted on it, 2 said they skipped it and one didn't vote at all. So there are many people that didn't bother, doesn't affect them so they didn't pay it any attention. I would wager that those that voted in mass would be those in the religious communities around California, it was made clear that this should be voted down.

As for majority rule, what? that means I should give up fighting for what is right? Hardly, means I should fight harder, your group will, so I will too.

I don't march in parades and I don't much like screaming at the top of my lungs either. Although today might be an exception, if you were in my face, but I have the feeling face to face with you wold be an entirely different thing. You obviously don't know much about what this country was founded on either, so basically that is as ignorant as the rest of your comments.

You might want to check out the selfishness in your own side of the issue.

Thomas...

In your opinion, what or who should decide what is allowed to happen concerning gay marriage and why?

Seriously. If it's against their religion, no one is making them be with someone of the same sex. I don't see why it would bother them that someone else is different than they are.

You're talking about things being selfish, yet pretty much everything you've said so far has been selfish because you don't like seeing two men or two women together. And you want to live your life the way you want, but don't want gay people to live their lives the way they want.

my 2 cents for what it's worth...regardless of whether people think it's right or wrong...the government has no business telling people they can't marry as long as they are consenting adults.

we all have different beliefs/opinions on the matters and can vote accordingly...but as far as the government...there should be separation of church and state

So what if I don't like seeing two men or women together? Are you saying I have to like everything you like and if I don't I am being selfish. That kind of thinking is absurd no matter what way you look at it.I have said it before...I don't care what the gays do or how the gays live or what they do with their lives. It's none of my business. But I do have the right to vote and I have the right to live my life the way I see fit and if that means I would rather not be around gays that is my business. If the people would have voted for gay marriage I would have respected that since it was a majority.

Not at all. I never said you had to like anything. You were going on about how you want to be able to live life the way you want. That it was your right. Why shouldn't gay people have the same right?

well done iowa , i aint gay but i dont see any reason why gay people should have different rights from anyone else just because they are gay, everyone should have the same rights no matter what unless they break the law i think!
