From what I'm reading on the Gov site, Kids who can't make it in school or who don't want to be there, will be inducted into the corp and trained for what they would be capable of doing.

The CCC was a youth group. Initially, young men between 18 and 25 years old enrolled in the corps for six-month service stretches. They could re-enlist for another six-month period, if they wished, for a maximum of two years. The enrollees received $30 per month. If they had families, they received $5 on payday and $25 was sent home.

“I had to quit school when I was 17,” says Dominic Cuda, who served in the CCC in Somerset, Pennsylvania. “My family only had $3 a week. I could give them the $25, and I would have $5 spending money. We never saw the $25. It was sent straight home. Roosevelt took people off the streets and off Relief. He knew what he was doing.”

In 1937, the government lowered the minimum enrollment age to 17 and raised the maximum age to 28. The government also expanded the program to include World War I veterans, Native Americans, Eskimos, and local experienced men who served as trades supervisors. At its peak in 1935, the CCC employed 505,782 young men scattered throughout 2,652 camps.

What I posted came directly from the Union Calendar No. 10

1ST SESSION H. R. 1388

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The plan they have is not voluntary. The kids and young adults will be taken and trained wherever the Corporations deems fit for them.

Mandatory Volunteerism... and Orwell rolls over.

My grandfather told me about it. He lived through those times. He said it was voluntary. He said that people were very grateful for the work.

Missouri is known for it's beautiful parks.

"In the 1930s, the Missouri state park system went through its most significant period of change and development. Beginning in 1933, under the direction of President Franklin Roosevelt, Congress authorized many federal public works programs to help alleviate the unemployment problem. The program that meant the most to Missouri's state park system was the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), an organization providing jobs for young men between the ages of 18 and 25."

I was talking about the page where you describe 4-11 regarding disadvantaged youth.

Regarding page 285: It's about the general purpose of the Commission.
It's to gather and analyze information in order to make recommendations on whether those issues are appropriate. Ex: What are the issues that deter volunteerism in the youth and more. They are looking at all options and issues. You took out one issue and posted it.

Willing,

What page is where you say, "Kids who can't make it in school or who don't want to be there, will be inducted into the corp and trained for what they would be capable of doing"? I can't find it.

From what I see, it sounds like Job Corps. I liked what I read in the bill.

I have a friend whose child is doing something similar to that bill here. The child is to work for 3 summers for a community organization.
When she is done, she gets 4 free years of college. It's a win-win.

Yes, I see page 68. It's describing page 67. They're talking about the Clean Energy Corps. That is just one program of many that are on the bill.

It's an extension of the Public Lands Corps Act of 1993 - the Urban Youth Corp. They are the ones that I was talking about on an earlier post on this thread. They clean the highways here and plant flower bulbs on the grassy areas of the highways. They do more too.

They are saying that they would like at least 50% of those working in the Clean Energy Corp to include the out-of-school youth and the disadvantaged youth.

They have been doing that program since 1993. It's a good program.

It even says at the top of what you copied and pasted, "It includes".
