Topic: “Mandatory Volunteerism”… Is this a repeat of history? | |

Well, as I see it, as well as others, in the description, it will be mandatory service. I see them rounding up homeless kids, kids who are getting too old for the foster care system, juvenile delinquents, the developmentally disabled kids, economically disadvantaged, drop outs along with whoever else the Corporation deems a burden. I see them training them and then placing them wherever the corporation deems fit. I see them providing housing, a small allowance and health care. It might be a good thing to keep them off the streets and having the Corporation be their guardian. There's your win. We'll see if it's just as simple as volunteering. More then likely it will be YOUR kids... Forced to participate by peer pressure and censure from teachers... Like I posted before Americas version of Hitler Youth... Our politicians are either short-sighted or this is delibrate and the plan is for sometime down the road to have control at all levels (financial, military, police, and of course in the generations that will take over) |

Did you read the bill, Adventure?

Did you read the bill, Adventure? It has become quite appearent to me that our current congress has no problem whatsoever CHANGEING things after the fact. The bill gives them just enough room to manuever (politically) when the small lumps of smelly stuff hit the fan. Volunteering is volunteering... Mandatory is not. Peer or Authority pressure is NOT volunteering. |

Driven, The Civilian Conservation Corps was one of the most successful New Deal programs of the Great Depression. It existed for fewer than 10 years, but left a legacy of strong, handsome roads, bridges, and buildings throughout the United States. Between 1933 and 1941, more than 3,000,000 men served in the CCC. The effects of service in the CCC were felt for years, even decades, afterwards. Following the depression, when the job market picked up, businessmen indicated a preference for hiring a man who had been in the CCC, and the reason was simple. Employers believed that anyone who had been in the CCC would know what a full day's work meant, and how to carry out orders in a disciplined way. Today, many of the remaining physical features the CCC built have been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h1586.html I'm cool with volunteering. Don't misunderstand me. Community involvement is key. What i'm not cool with is forcing, or pressuring this volunteer work. I am not insuiating that that is the purpose of this bill in any way. We will see what will become of it. It has potential for both good and bad. I have trust issues still when it comes to the U.S. gov. So i am watchful that's all. I haven't read the bill yet. I will soon though. |

You have a point
and you assume they are all right wingers? if I am correct...most don't subscribe to a particular party. It gets old, Conspiracy nuts, Conspiracy theorists, tinfoil hats. How about instead of spending all the effort typing out a 2 sentence insult, you prove it? I'm open to being proven wrong. What I'm not open to is those with tunnel vision and closed minds carte blanche dismissing what a huge part of this population is worried about. That being said, I have to see strong evidence before I come with something, what does the "Conspiracy Theory" insult, because thats what it's become, solve? |

and you assume they are all right wingers? if I am correct...most don't subscribe to a particular party. there are left wingers like this too. you make alot of generalized statements about the right wing like you know these things to be facts. it would be like me saying the left wingers have their heads buried in the sand. but of course that is a general statement and therefore not true either |
