Obama has taken over the Iraq war.He said he has no plans for a pull out until the middle of next year and then a large support force to stay for another year after that.With all the Bush bashing and calling him a war criminal how is Obama any different now?Isn't Obama continuing George bush's supposed illegal war?He certainly has no immediate plans to stop it.I say next time you flap your gums about Bush being a war criminal better line up Obama right next to him.

Obama had the power at 12:01 on Jan 20 to remove every troop from Iraq. They could have been out in a few weeks. Did he? No. He kept the course that was left for him and will have the troops there indefinitely (sure, he said a "pullout" date but also left provisions to allow a few ten thousand to stay behind).

That's been my stance from day one. I'm essentially arguing the point that if Bush is a war criminal, so is Obama. I fully stand by staying there until it's done. To me the greatest insult would be pulling out and coming home and everything going back to what it was. If that was the case, Obama may as well find the grave of every fallen soldier from the war and spit on it.

Iraq could only hold Iran to a stand still fully armed with our support when they were fully armed!!!

The only way for them to leave is the same route they entered by, Kuwait, or through Jordan to the Med, the desert through Saudi Arabia, or through Turkey.

Obama is trying to get permission from Turkey to move some through there, but Bush's policies have made them weary of that!

Planes can only hold so many Tanks, trucks, etc. and they cant fly all the way home. It is possible but painfully slow and unfeasible.

If they cannot stand on their own ever then we must admit defeat and come home with our tail between our legs. Losing a war is just cause to return home. Coming home just because it's unpopular is not.

Sure we can pull out anytime. But until Iraq can defend itself from others as well as itself it would just mean us going back in.

So how long will it take to make Iraq a formidable force that can defend itself....

Well we do have other bases closer. Germany, for example where we could store everything until it can be arranged. If we really wanted, we could be out in a matter of weeks. They would not all be home by then, but we could be out.

We have a bad history of supporting the lesser evil and it biting us in the ass a decade later.

Just as Iraq will come back and bite us. Still havent heard how we are going to pull out in a year, 5 years or 10 years!!!!!

How much savings are we going to see pulling out 50,000 troops? Personel is the least expensive part of the whole thing!!!

the anti-war groups do not research the actual costs of the war. They have no idea what a person costs compared to a missile.

I fully agree that there is no exit strategy. That leaves two options: stay until they're stable (possibly for decades) or admit we lost. we have too much pride and political need to not do the second one so we're stuck with the first. Though I have to say this was not an ideal situation to begin with. The war was inevitable but it could have waited 5 more years.

How can you say it was invitable? Christ we walk right into Bagdad! Iraq had nothing left after the first war...YET we put 3 carriers in the gulf to fight a 90lb weakling...Lets see they had no airforce left, limited tanks and armor, and we go in with 3 carrier groups! Do you know the power that just one of those have?
