It makes her mother a hypocrite for claiming to represent "family values"

how? respecting your child (now adult) as an individual trusting in their ability to make their own decisions, however bad they may be, is certainly a Christian family value. don't get me wrong, palin scares the crap out of me but i don't think her daughter's choice says anything about the governor's beliefs. i could understand the hypocrisy angle if palin got an abortion but if she's supporting her daughter even when she's acting like an idiot...
 Perhaps Gov Palin shouldnt run down other peoples families who have differing "family values"

Who's family did she run down?

Maybe you missed that part of her campaign where she divided the country between true americans and not ... . Matters not to me now, just glad she didn't win or we would have had another 8 years of if you not with us your against us... That is what scared me the most.

Another 8 years of if your not with us your against us? Isnt that what the Dems are doing in congress now? Locking out the Repobs from any say in whats going on with the stimulas or the omnibus bills! Thats what the Dems call bi-partisan politics, you either do things how we want or stay out?

Yes I believe you might have something there, but they say pay back is a ... oh you know. Republicans and democrats do this all the time don't they. They simply refuse to work with eachother and then there are those that want to pretend they are above it all really crack me up, on both sides. For just today I want to pretend niether side exists. Just for sanity reasons.

Here is why this is funny.

Republican's have been howling about poor people reproducing and being a burden on society for many many years. So, who ever said in an earlier post that we wouldn't make these comments if she was a mother from the ghetto you are wrong. Republicans have been making those comments in politically acceptable but none the less easily understood code terms and not so code terms for some time.

They've wagged their judgmental fingers and refused to fund sex education programs. They talked sternly about how the public shouldn't have to support immoral behavior...yet when it happen in their own back yard it suddenly becomes a private matter?

Then worse it is used and spined and almost celebrated when republican delegates are interviewed on the convention floor talking about the kids up-right moral plans to marry? Real life they say...mistakes happen but they are doing the right thing.

The campaign made it not a private matter when they trotted that poor girl and Levi out on the stage. Shame on them...but once that door was opened by the campaign it was no longer a private matter.

Gov. Palin's belief in the just say no abstinence only approach is flawed. It doesn't work! Not even in her own house.

She made a big point of saying at the convention that they were getting married. Then republicans chirped about an unwed teen pregnancy being a private matter. Private my a$$ she used that kid as a political tool as much or more than anyone in the media or anyone who pointed out the abstinence only hypocrisy of her position.

She and the party used that kid. Except she wasn't just using her child and her off spring she was using Levi too. All to salvage some pro family, pro life political points. Shame on Sarah....that's why she is still in this conversation.

In the whole Palin "family" situation, what I found humorous was the claim by this same ilk that Bristol Palin was really the mother of Trig rumors. Idle musing/rhetorical question here, in the event they reconcile and get married will the likes of madisonman start another topic stating it?

My post was in response to someone saying Gov Palin ran on family values and they were bashing her for that so I asked if they would say that to single mothers in the ghetto. And no I am not wrong I work in the ghetto every day and see families with strong values and their kids still get pregnant out of wedlock. Please dont take my post out of context.

Isn't it always? Was with Bush too, it's always been that way and probably always will be until we the people change our attitudes toward one another, then the government might actually reflect the will of most people in this country, but not until then. But that too is unlikely because of the very things we allow to divide us. Religion, race, class, power...... and on and on.

I never saw anyone that thought it was funny as in haha, more ironic than anything. Infact I never even saw as misfortune, just something that happens, period. Most of the posts in here are just nonsense goofing off if you will notice.

Yuck pissing in some one's cheerios? Good think I don't eat cereal.. lol

maybe "family values" are more an ideal than anything else. maybe it's what we hold in front of us to strive for...maybe it's what reminds us to behave.

everyone screws up. it's our response to said screw-up that counts.

this is excellent and very true

Well I think when it comes right down to it if we are all honest, it's not about Palin, or the daughter or her boyfriend or the baby. But I don't really want to get the whole issue of politics and choices going again. I'm in too good a mood...
