Topic: is chivalry really dead? | |

is it me or is it getting harder to find chivalry in a guy nowadays? or is it because women are asking for equal rights now that some men have decided to just stop holding doors open and being downright romantic nowadays? or maybe its my bad luck that i cant meet people like that... hmmm something to think about... do prince charmings still exist? or is chivalry really dead?
just thinking out loud |

I dont think it is, but in my experiences the girls ive dated either didn't like it or just never showed any appreciation for it. Granted doing it for the girl should be its own reward but its nice when she tells the guy thank you or show some form of thanks for it to make the guy feel appreciated. Those are my thoughts.

I wouldn't say chivalry is dead, but it is dying. I think a lot of it is because more young men are growing up these days without a father, or with a father who doesn't make it a point to teach boys growing up how important it is to treat a woman right.
I can't let the men take all the blame though, because a big reason men aren't gentlemen any more is because most women seem to be after the bad boy, or a fixer-upper. When a man is growing up and every hot female he meets is with an a-hole, then eventually the man decides to try being an a-hole. Since these days a young man is more likely to hook-up with a female by acting hard than being respectful, it's no suprise that gentlemen are hard to find. If you keep looking and don't let yourself settle for less than a good man, you'll find him. From what I can see in your picture, you are a beutiful woman and no matter what you deserve to be treated right. Just don't let some guy fool you with a pretty face and a bad attitude. |

no it's deffinetly not dead. i am and know a couple. i was going to say plenty of people but i only do know a couple. not including older people. but too. be honest with you. girls now a days don't want that. for as much as they say they do they really don't. thats why im on here b/c i'm looking for a girl that is. for some reason girls like aholes, and i'm hoping that it's just cause were young and i hope they can open there eyes when there older on too just what a relationship really is, and get away from those aholes.

well said but some of us are just stubborn and never give up even if the saying is true "nice guys finish last" That saying is not true though, it's just thrown out there as a scapegoat and a means to justify idiotic behavior by some dude's (and women too) who just don't get it. Nice guys never finish last, they run a completely different race. |

If I did open a door for her she wouldn't walk through it, and would open the door next to it, if there was one. I really hate to think it's gone, but starting to believe that it is. Mainly cause girls don't want or expect it anymore. In fact I think most women rather have the jerky guys than the nice ones. I was raised to have manners and respect for women, but it now seems pointless. |

Yes, and women killed it.

Yes, and women killed it. I quite agree. This is why I'm a misogynist. xx |

I quite agree. This is why I'm a misogynist. So if you talk to yourself, are there harsh words? |

Chivalry is fading for modern life rhythm and challenges of opposite sex requirement.
While the soil changes, the plant will remove any more. |

i wait and hold the door open for women, so no, its not quite dead, just extremely rare

Chivalry is a lost art. Few have it and very few display it.

I was raised to have manners and respect for women, but it now seems pointless. I don't believe it's dead at all. Admittedly, there are a lot less guys, especially around my age and younger that don't have any manners. But I think that's because of the way they were raised, whether learning from their parents or from friends. Personally, I like it when a man can be polite and sweet, and do little things like that. It bothers me when a guy tries to do absolutely everything for me, but I do appreciate the attempt. I will hold the door once in a while for him, and little things like that as well. I just ask that he lets me do it for him as well. |

I wouldn't say it's dead, although some women find it offensive for me to help them carry something etc. Yeah it may seem sexist from a certain standpoint, but that isn't my intention. Mostly just letting them know I'm thinking about them even if its something as simple as opening a door.

chivalry isnt dead...its just men have become so lazy that they think its "uncool"....its all about being "cool"....if guys are out with their friends are they were kind and opened a door or offered to carry a bag what would their friends say? yeah you probably have an idea...and then that guy has to listen to his friends...its all by association...men are too worried about what other guys think and the "other" guys are the losers who are either single or have no lives and its a domino effect and here we are...me? I do what I want and don't care...so, if you see me at a store, I'd be more than happy to hold the door for you and carry your bags

YAY! My first Post!
Chivalry is not dead but it is dying real fast. No one wants to be a nice guy any more. Chicks want guys that give them a rush of emotions even if they're unhealthy ones. |

I know from experience girls just want the bad boy type. When I was younger I would put on that act to get the girl, but the nice guy in me couldn't keep it up and I would start treating them with respect and they would run faster than the road runner! or cheat on me WITH the bad boy!! |
