What exactly are you trying to build? Is it just a Myspace page or is it more complex?

More complex than a myspace page I guess.. It's gonna be a site to advertise a product.

search for things on html encoding

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character_encodings_in_HTML

It has a few helpful links that describe some of the things that you may want to do.

I also suggest looking up html text color and size encoding.

I hope that helps.

is there a free SAFE way to register my domain?

Domains cost money for a good reason.

Imagine how difficult it would be buying an unused domain if they were available for free.

I'm not sure, but no one uses it. Dreamweaver is the way to go.

I'll actually design it for you for free if I can have the permission to use it on my portfolio. Message me if you're interested.

There are alot of resources on the web to help make a web site. If you need on to point and click you can get a starter kit from microsoft or you can use a text editor. I have created a few in last few years. so i know alot about html and php these are two languages that are used for most websites. if you want to learn some of this languages you can go to w3school.com. this will help you learn how to modify and secure you web page at the same time.

Masalka, message me if you like .... I've built several sites, and can give you examples of what I've done.

You type 'how to build a website' into google and find a site that explains it.

Forget all other contributions in this thread.

Yeah, you could search for how to build a site, as long as you know what you're looking for .... then understand how to implement everything to make it work the way you want .... plus customize it to your needs visually .... and then optimize it for search engines .... and make it w3c compliant .... and learn how to implement dynamic scripting and databases if needed .... get it set up on a server .... start getting traffic .... guess it depends on how long you want to spend, how much you want to learn, and all that.

The hardcore (or broke. see picture to left) do it in notepad. hard code HTML, PHP, MysQL, and all lol.

As for HTML, a WYSIWYG editor like frontpage or dreamweaver is your best bet. you basically design the page and it writes the code for you. Frontpage even automatically uploads to your server once you get a domain name. I recommend doteasy.com. Their hosting is not too bad either.
