Oakland police are brutal just like san francisco and the worst are san jose. I got beat up by them when i was 17 and dropped in heller park in san jose. They dont mess around! As an answer to the problem i dont know? i'm in oakland a couple times a month and after hours its not a place you want to be. They sell crack all over have hookers everywhere shootings are common and the cops wont even mess with you unless your really bad. they hardly even pull you over for speeding cause they are so busy its a mess there i dont think there is a solution.
Thanks for your replies. Yr , like, my frontlinr correspondent right now. Is it really crazy there now?

but those cops are bad and if your a street person they will just jack you up fast! But those guys out there are real bad too so what do you do? Watch, keep an eye out those gang bangers are gonna get even there gonna kill a cop! there are areas of oakland the cops wont even go in unless they have ten or more squad cars cause the gang bangers run things.

Sounds like Philly. North Philly ios referred to as the badlands, Forget calling a cop to go ther, much less a cab. They call it Killadelphia now. It's crazy out there.

I just saw video of the cop that out-right murdered a person he was arresting in Oakland. Now they're rioting and I can't blame them..The video speaks for itself. The cop was white, the victim, black. It's an outrage!

there should be a law against that

oh wait

yep just seen it on the news. The kid was killed on the bart platform on january 1st. He was killed by a bart policeman thats like the subway police. People often mistake them for security but they are real cops. didnt say the station but there is a transfer station at 12th street and its real bad there but usally there are cops there all day and night. didnt say what happened but the riot was last night and they are protesting again tonight. they said no one really knows what happend and they are looking into details is there video of the murder cause i cant find it?

yep that was murder! Those cops are like that they always use too much force! all the damn time and they use the excuse there life is on the line. well yeah stupid thats part of being a cop you put your life on the line but you still cant use abuse of power. they better give him prison and he wont make it in prison. just imagine if you grow up out there you see it all the time, not murder but you know abbuse but without video they just get away with it. good i hope they crucify that guy! But his family came out against the riots so it might get better

yep those kids are tough and the cops dont want to break a nail if you cant fight u got no business being a cop in my opinion. they should learn how to subdue people without killing them and i know what you mean it pisses me off too. its a credability issue to those cops if they think u got none they will take advantage of that.

How anyone can draw a definitive opinion from just that video is beyond me.

It looks to me like it could have been an accidental shooting.
It also could have been justified.
It also could have been a murder.

The video itself is not enough.

You can see the guy struggling with the police.
He was not co-operating as the reporters and witnesses say. He is clearly fighting against the cops who are restraining him.
Yes at the begining of the video he does put his hands up, but then he starts getting up and starts struggling. You can't see if he was pulling a gun on the cops, you can't see clearly enough what he was doing, only that he was obviously not co-operating. Contrary to what the reporters and the lawyer say.

There's not enough here to make a concrete descision one way or the other. An investigation needs to take place and it needs to go to trial.

Why do people seem to think that a blurry video of what may have been an accident, a murder, or a justified shooting, but in no way is definitive from the video itself is somehow justification for them to go out and commit crimes.

Alot of cops are too quick with the gun. This has been all over the news.

I lived in Oakland.......90% are black, asian, or hispanic.

Whether it was a white cop or not, a badge does not give you a right to kill someone because they cant cuff them properly.

Time to give those cops some proper training!!!
