Dont they train those cops some tai kwon do???? karate???? geeeeeeeeeeeeez I could have had that guy down in 3.2 seconds WITHOUT A GUN!!!explode pitchfork glasses

The most effective way i taught/learned how to "disarm" a person invovles breaking one or more of their bones. The other choices are black out spots.. areas on a human body that will inflict so much pain when pulled/jabbed/kicked, that a person will literally lose the ability to see. It is a 3 sec window that allows them to be captured or killed. Its called Marine Corps LINE Combat System or the LINE (Linear Infighting Neurological Override Engagement), i should know i taught the class as a Sergeant.

But that being said its not what Police are trained to do.. if every arrest ended in a broken bone to contain a suspect police department would be sued to crap. They are taught non-leathal, but also sometimes ineffective methods of containing a subject. Why ineffective, because the human body is a amazing machine when feed with adrenaline.

Everything is easy to have an opinion on when you look never have been put in that position.
Police should be properly trained with martial arts. Yes it can be lethal but what is a gun???? I use it almost everyday in my line of work to protect myself not harm someone. I work with very violent people. And there have been times.......when you just wanna plow someone in the head but "professionalism" overrides.

hey man i cant disagree with a lot of what your saying but cops got issues too and they get away with a lot of bull**** too this goes both ways. just because this jerk killed this kid doesnt mean that all cops are bad or all black kids are gang bangers. but ill tell you one thing i have personally met plenty of cops that where jerks and ive met some really good ones too. i donate to the police orphange fund at thats the truth. i also have a freind thats a sheriff in dublin. great guy! i was in a sniper for the u.s army 25th infantry division but that cop lost his cool and cops choose there job and they know the risks they need courage to do the right thing and kudos to the ones that have courage!

Agreed.

While Line fighting does invovle some Martial Arts it is consider to lethal to be taught to civilan police. Effective Line fighting can be taught in a matter of weeks.. while effective Martial Arts takes a lifetime to perfect.

Maybe this "incident" will maybe get the police force more educated....with other ways of subduing a perp.

Maybe the guy had a rap sheet 10 miles long....but according to that video...he didnt produce a gun.

i loved the army but they wouldnt give me what i wanted to reinlist so i got out. I know the 82nd walked like us too i was in hawaii and everyone use to tell me how lucky and it was great but the kuhukus and pukapus where we trained in the field was tough rains all the time and the moutains and jungle is rough. I was a scout too first in last out so i carried the ranger ruck and we had to carry the water blivots. i still loved it

yeah i was explaining earlier in the thread about oakland. I work in sales now and i take customers to the sporting events in oakland. Warriors, athletics, raiders. Around the stadium is really bad hookers and crack dealers every where. I know they had over 100 murders last year and a few years back oakland was murder capitol of the country. Those cops have it tough i know that! What about them doing details that deal with other things like working with the community. I think mentally it takes a toll on them and they should get a break sometimes.

How anyone can draw a definitive opinion from just that video is beyond me.

It looks to me like it could have been an accidental shooting.
It also could have been justified.
It also could have been a murder.

The video itself is not enough.

You can see the guy struggling with the police.
He was not co-operating as the reporters and witnesses say. He is clearly fighting against the cops who are restraining him.
Yes at the begining of the video he does put his hands up, but then he starts getting up and starts struggling. You can't see if he was pulling a gun on the cops, you can't see clearly enough what he was doing, only that he was obviously not co-operating. Contrary to what the reporters and the lawyer say.

There's not enough here to make a concrete descision one way or the other. An investigation needs to take place and it needs to go to trial.

Why do people seem to think that a blurry video of what may have been an accident, a murder, or a justified shooting, but in no way is definitive from the video itself is somehow justification for them to go out and commit crimes.

And you also believe in the Easter Bunny! Explain to this forum how a man on his stomach could be a danger to a "crowd" of police officers (because there were more than 5)Were they in danger from their victim who could have harmed them by letting off a fart that is equivalent to atomic proportions? ....... Just a thought
