Topic: Why Christians Venture out?

I'm a Christian and I don't count on facts with the Old Testament. It was written by men long time ago and was difficult to interpret. I concentrate more on Jesus' life. Jesus denounced the laws of the Old Testament.

No way...Jesus had compassion on those whose lives were ruined by sickness & ignorance & unrepentant sin. Unlike those who arrogantly hated Him & wanted to kill Him for teaching what He taught. They were rebellious against His teaching. I think the term Jesus used was vipers & snakes.

Don't think for one minute Jesus condoned sin... or else why would God say He is coming back for a church that is without spot or wrinkle. The Bible says alot about sin. Take the admonishment as a sign of God's love toward you.

He did denounce the old laws of the Old Testament.

What is wrong with concentrating on his teachings more then the Old Testament?

Jesus Told us to go unto the world.

MARK 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Is that why many of you proselytize to such extremes? Do you ever worry about going to hell for over proselytizing?

Im not sure that he did though. Read this:

5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Matthew 5

So was Jesus saying he was going to fulfill the Law when he comes back to Earth then? What did he mean by that?

No he didn't ... even when He showed compassion to the prostitute....He said...if no man judges you I won't either, but Jesus also said Go & sin no more.

Jesus said He came to fulfill the law...not abolish it. It's there...in the bible.

If you knew that God's admonishments are not judgements there would be no confusion.

I was taught that he threw out man's rules like what they ate, stoning, etc., and what was said to Moses stayed.

And this: Colossians 2,14-15 ...having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us, he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

Our sins are forgiven.

Edit:

And why do you have to be rude about it?

Winx...

Jesus did NOT DO AWAY WITH the OlD Covenant.....

Jesus instead, just Gave us a

NEW and BETTER COVENANT(new testament)....

which again, does not do away with the law....

but simply improves what was before .

The new covenant has some similarities to the old,

but it is still ,a new covenant.

It does not mean that the law is annulled...

but just no longer binding as law.

We are just not under the "letter of the law".... beaten over the head with it.

"The letter of the law kills, but the Spirit gives life”

For example...the ten commandments:

(before)written on tablets of stone

(now)written on the beleiver's heart

(before)the letter that kills

(now)the Spirit that gives life

(before)a ministry that brought death

(now)a ministry that brings life

(before)engraved in letters on stone

(now)a ministry of the Spirit

(before)came with glory

(now)even more glorious

(before)the ministry that condemns

(now) ministry that brings righteousness

Jesus came to Fulfil the Law...not do away with it...

but in His fulfillng it, it doesn't mean things remain

exactly the same as it was in the old testament.

Hope this helps now.flowerforyou:heart:flowerforyou

Jesus Said,

" A NEW Commandment I Give You Now:

Love The Lord Thy God ,

With All Thy Heart,

and All Thy Mind

and All Thy Soul..."

and Secondly, Jesus Said ,

"Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself."

And when we really stop and think about it...

what Jesus said,

Covers It All....

and

Says It All.

Amen.

Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the commandment: "He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death." So, does Jesus think that children who curse their parents should be killed? It sure sounds like it. He seems to support the Law of the OT. Im finding little here to indicate that he ever denounced it. Unless you are just saying that he stopped after being crucified. Well you arent doing a whole lot after being nailed to a pole.

Mathew 15 New Testament

15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

Krimsa...can't take scripture out of context...

gotta INCLUDE THE WHOLE CONTEXT, in order to derive the TRUE meaning...

Read ALL of Chapter 15:1-20 of Matthew, Krimsa...

You will see that Jesus was REPROVING
the Scribes and Pharisees...

 I agree with whatever Krimsa is gonna say:tongue:

To suck up or not to suck up.laugh
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?"
Hey, if it works don't fix it.

I was hoping to get a good talk with people of all Religions. Although I do believe Christ Died for me and all of us.

ROMANS 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

What about people that dont believe in the biblical god at tall?

So why would a reportedly perfect being who is said to be both omnipotent and omniscient need two chances to get it right and why couch the whole thing in contradictory riddles needing a Priest class to unravel?

It all sounds more like imperfect humans rationalizing and equivocating to get their story straight, all to the benefit of the Priest class.

Since we are not saved we are not supposed to understand that anyway, so why bother to get saved?
To understand a bible that could be explained to us by a priest at his convenience?
