Um since when is Christmas the only american holiday celebrated this time of year? As far as I can remember there is also our fellow Jewish people that celebrate hanukkah and people that celebrate other things. It's not about political correctness, its about respect. Get over it. I respect them......not changing the AMERICAN WAY for them to feel more comfortable......I am well aware that they have their beliefs.....it is not an AMERICAN TRADITION....hanukkah....it is Jewish.....If I am at a Jewish persons house....I respect what they believe....as long as they do the same for me... Oh my god, the things I could say right now. *biting tongue* So Jewish people are not American? I really don't understand your way of thinking, because its all screwed up and freakdified. Guess what, I'm AMERICAN and I don't celebrate CHRISTMAS, so I guess to you that means I'm not AMERICAN? I got you an all expense paid trip to the bunny ranch in Nevada. |

yeah....whatever.......for the most part, I respect other people boundries.......and their beliefs..... But I think it is BULLS*IT, when stores feel the need to cater to UNAMERICAN WAYS IN AMERICA.... Screw the "happy holidays" crap.... It was founded as CHRISTMAS....not HOLIDAY. other cultures may believe in something other then CHRISTMAS....but IN AMERICA WE HAVE CHRISTMAS... if you live in America....you should respect the culture of OUR ways....as americans should do in other countries.... With that being said.... MERRY CHRISTMAS.....And a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since when are there only Christians in America? You do realize there are others who don't celebrate Christmas in America, right? |

America is made up of many different cultures and beliefs not just christians. true.....but it is still AMERICA.....as the "holidays" should be.... People of other cultures can practice their own beliefs with out interfering with American Tradition.... A huge part of these people you refer to are american too. So what the hell tradition are you referring to? So to break it to you.....Christmas was here BEFORE any other "american" holidays...as you will call them.... Look....simple, point blank....I respect what each culture believes, and wiil even go so far as to say I am interested in learning about their beliefs, if for no other reason, just so I know in detail the origin, and reason for the practice... But the oldest tradition in this country should be the one that stands, in the matter of CHRISTMAS... |

I have friends from all different religions. I seem to be more sensitive to certain things when it comes to religion. However, I don't think that its wrong to wish someone a 'Merry Christmas' or whatever religious observance they celebrate. I think by stripping this time of year of different religious sayings it is taking something away from each religion.
So... Happy Winter Solstice! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Joyous Kwanzaa! And Happy Holidays to all the other religions that I missed! |

You keep talkign about 'American' holiday.. well isn't being an American about having freedom.. and isnt' part of the freedom being able to choose what you believe and what you want to say and celebrate? So that freedom of choice only goes to people who choose what you agree with?

And speaking of the New Year...
It's a Babylonian tradition that goes back 4,000 years as well. The "tradition" of New Year's being on January 1st, is from the Gregorian calendar, which we all pretty much now use. New Year's Day, btw... is still celebrated as the Feast of Christ's Circumcision in many Christian denominations (thought you're like to know that little "snippet..." pun intended). The Greeks first started with the baby theme in around 600 BC... but it was the Romans who brought the "New Year" celebrations to the Christians by means of pagan traditions. The church was pretty pizzed, but realized it was just another way for the pagans to identify with the "church" (just like Christmas). Regardless, American "tradition" incorporates many different cultures and beliefs and there is no ONE right way to celebrate it. American "tradition" is about diversity and acceptance. So... Happy WhateveryouwanttocallDecember25thinwhateverreligionyouare. |

So are you saying athiest beleif isnt american? cause america is land of the free. thats america is about its about being able to have your own choice. Here here. Not everyone in this country are "good christians". I'll be an athiest until i die. *shrugs* if i'm going to your version of "hell" for it then so be it. ANYWAY Already started religious battle. My bad. *Goes to make dinner* I don't even look at it in a Christian sense....therein lies the problem.....everyone wants to look at the religious aspect, when , to me, it is what it started out as...and it is time withthe family and with friends... |
