Don't expect too many changes. Ford has indicated several key front office people will be back next year. That Bucs two season record could be within our grasp.
This is just too much... |

Congrats Detroit: 0 - 16 (The perfect season) a toast to detroit of becoming 1st team in NFL history for a perfect season 0-16 |

I'm guessing the 76 Bucs had to put away the champagne, since they have hold that title for more than 32 years.

Marinelli is gone.

But Ford promoted from within the front office too just as I said he would.
I'll believe things have changed when I see some W's |

Actually...Mayhew is a very good " money " guy. He had very little to do with the team's performance. He didn't make any of the draft picks or anything else.
Lewand was the Assistant GM....so it is what it is. I'll give him a year or so and see how the draft picks he makes pan out. I don't think he could possibly do any worse. It will also be interesting to see who they hire as the new head coach. Ford is absolutely clueless. |

i saw on ESPN last week that detroit will pick QB from OK 1st pick is this a good idea or not? they were comparing detroit to altanta 1-15 of last yr of what picks they did

I think if Bradford enters the draft he will be the Lions first pick. I can't complain about that, I think he is going to be a successful NFL QB. But they better concentrate of the O-line after that or he's not going to have any protection.

Should the Lions really draft a QB or should theytry to play the free agent market for someone who can just do the job and try to pick up more need positions by trading the first pick?
With the way their O-line is right now I'd hate to see a promising young QB get thrown into the fray and obliterated with blitzes and fizzle out after a few years. There is no Peyton Manning in this year's draft. If the Lions traded that #1 pick for multiple number ones and possibly got a mediocre player at a need position for them it might be the best thing to do, although finding the team to make that trade with no Peyton Manning in this year's draft class may be difficult. |

I think there are two quarterbacks that they could work with very well. Sam Bradford, or Chase Daniels. But you're right, if they don't address the line it won't matter who they put in. I wouldn't expect them to start the rookie to begin with. We still have Kitna and I'm sure he'll be starting next season. We can always trade our lower first round pick for another second and a third round pick. Linemen and defensive backs will still be available there. Atleast that's my opinion. I wouldn't be totally opposed to them trading the first pick if they really made a move in the right direction. But since Ford is at the helm, that ain't gonna happen.

i say that detroit should go with Matt Cassel from New England...dude was da** good this year and should earn a starting job somewhere
that way detroit can focus their draft on more need positions such as O and D line |

Too many other good teams will be offering him jobs for Detroit to get him. |

Is that the atmosphere that you want as a starter in the league? I highly doubt there's enough money in Detroit to convince him to come over. |

I seriously think that Orlovsky would be a pretty good quarterback. He had a couple of bad games, but had he not gotten hurt, I think they might have actually won a game or two. The one thing about him is that, in the majority of the games he played, he had them in position to win. It was the defense that caused most of the losing.
They are projecting that the Lions are going to take Bradford. I think Matt Stafford from Georgia would probably be a better pick. However, I think having Culpepper and Orlovsky already on the roster gives them the luxury to take a good long look at the Offensive Tackle out of Alabama. He's projected to go 2nd to the Rams, so it really wouldn't be a huge reach for the Lions to grab him with the number 1 pick. In my opinion, the Lions absolutely HAVE to address the O line and try to gt a good pass rusher. If they get an O lineman, they'll probably be able to run the ball more effectively. That will open up the passing game more. |

See, that's one of the biggest problems, right there. Too many of these players are in it for the money, not for the game. To be honest with you, there ain't a damn one of 'em worth what they're getting paid, I don't care WHO they are. |
