If you broke up with someone and they said they are going to commit suicide what would you do?

I would ingore it. Alot of people say it. But dont do it.

If I seriously thought they were for real, try to talk to them. If I knew they were bull$hitting and "crying wolf" to get me back...hand them a loaded gun I'm Kidding! I'd seriously talk to them! Maybe smack them around a bit for EVEN SAYING IT!!

i'd direct them to a help line and possibly call myself. to stay with someone out of pity is completely wrong

i'd tell them that i am not responsible for the actions of another. and then i'd refuse any more form of communication with them. no one is ever gonna hold me hostage in that way.

I'd call the cops. Either way you look at it,it shows a mental imbalance

This seems to be a last ditch attempt to control the actions of another person- in MOST cases. Suicide, imho, does not help one escape the wheel of Samsara anyway. It's best handled firmly, but with as much compassion as can be generated. Good luck.

direct help towards them, they obviously need it and I am not equipped to save others from themselves....at least not in that respect

I would call there bluff. My Brother tried that on my Sister-in-law a month or so ago. She called his bluff....called the sherrifs department and had him involuntarily commited for 3days.

This is a munipulators last gasp for control..I guess I would offer to show them were to get help, but like others have said,they are responsible for their own actions.

You are right, you can never be totally sure, but that is why I offer the get them help, I just cannot and as others have said, am not equipted to do that.
