Im just saying that usually if a thread is good enough to sustain itself for a substantial period of time, it is because EVERYONE is contributing and offering their input. All the original poster did was come up with a topic. In this case, "How do you force a thread into the 50 page mark."

The reason I ask is, I've posted threads that (I thought) had some substance and would make for interesting conversation. Not all of them, but most. They all seem to drop like a stone. On the other hand, I've seen threads of "inane drivel" posted that have gone the full limit PLUS, into parts 312 and parts 742 and so on. What gives? Some of the "inane drivel" threads are really just a group of people hanging out and chitchatting. Very few are exclusive, anyone who wants to drop in and chat is free to do so. While the original title of the post might seem frivolous, for some reason it stuck, usually because of the people involved and not the topic. Might want to check some of them out, you might be surprised and maybe make a few new friends So Keith ... does every convo you have with friends develop around deep and thought-provoking subjects? If I remember correctly, the meet at my house with what? close to 20 people in and out, was fun because people were chatting. That's what sites like this do. They create areas like Starbucks or a local 'cheers' bar .. where people "CHAT" It's not called a chat room for whatever reason, and they do start with well-intended food for thought, but people like to chill babe. On line like in person. The longer threads are 'chill' threads .. easy going & laid back.

Im okay with the casual "chit chatty" or joke threads but sometimes I get a little bored with them. You can only say so much on that level. So after a while I will move on. But thats my personality. There are some people who only seek out the casual threads and will post on them for weeks.

I personally like an intelligent conversation, but on here sometimes people get a bit territorial and angry in deeper threads. For those of us who have stress-filled careers/lives already, and lots of varied conversations in our R/L .. this place becomes somewhere to just take a 'recess' and kick back. It's our therapy you might say
