I think people overlook that his Mother was white.
... having only 1 human race....forget color.

Absolutely.

Lets just hope that as a person, he can lead your country out of the doldrums and do what he says he can do.

After all, do we really need another corrupt politician controlled by big business?

I am so sorry that our President Elect has been left with such a terrible mess. What comes to my mind is that once again a black man has to clean up the mess created by the spoiled frat boys. It seems they had a party at the expense of the american people and will be counting their blood money untill they are dragged to hell by the grim reaper. I know Barack has the fortitude to get things right and am comforted by this.

Madison,

I don't know that I've ever read a more patronizing and condescending "apology" than the one you wrote above. That you think you need to apologize for the actions of someone you dislike is beyond arrogant. That you think intelligent people of varying ethnicities need you to point out what they are fully capable of figuring out independently is just incredibly scary.

-Drew

cut him a little slack he was simply being polite.

if anything the premise that it takes one ethnicity to clean up another's mess is insulting for all involved but that would be parsing words a bit much for someone who is obviously a supporter of the same cause.

its not patronizing it is somber and a sober realization that we as a nation have a lot to deal with.... i would add regardless of the skin of our president.

What's with the continued division? One nation ... work together and make the rest of the world proud! flowerforyou flowerforyou

I agree.

That was the point I was highlighting if you read above. He discredited it and I see otherwise. I just want to have an intelligent conversation about these things and not one based in vitriolic rhetoric.

And I agree with Mirror as well. I also think Drew makes some salient points.

I think your assumption about why I wrote what I wrote is foolsih, Drew. My thoughts on this historical event are my own. Its a pitty that he takes over a country that has been raped and pillaged by the Frat boy class. those were my thoughts and I wrote them for better or worse but I am getting some good insights into how others feel and that after all is the point of a forum, eh Drew?

It's time for us to quit the whining and do what the man needs, which is file rank behind him IN UNISON. We've reached an historical apex in this country. It's time we made it happen for the next 200 year's worth of Americans by working together.

I voted for Obama but I am no better than a racist skinhead if I take this opportunity to wag my finger in victory. Let's grow up and be a country that is trully a melting pot rather than one which just proclaims itself so.

LOVE  drinker
They so deserve to have a finger waved at them bro, and much more. They are lucky they are not being chased with a pitch fork for what they have done to our country.

I believe Obama has our best interest at heart, however he is just one man couldn't do much without the support of many people of many colors standing behind him. Imo.

i love this line of logic

its like saying "HEY! I havent been punched in the face! 'Cept for tha one time when i got punched really hard!"

Fact is we got punched.

let me remind you of history

Secretary Rice testifies to the 9/11 commission

"RICE: I remember very well that the president was aware that there were issues inside the United States. He talked to people about this. But I don't remember the al Qaeda cells as being something that we were told we needed to do something about.

BEN-VENISTE: Isn't it a fact, Dr. Rice, that the August 6 PDB warned against possible attacks in this country? And I ask you whether you recall the title of that PDB?

RICE: I believe the title was, "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States."

Now, the...

BEN-VENISTE: Thank you."

So yeah we havent been punched in a while but when you get a memo titled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States." you have to ask... could we have avoided being punched in the first place???

I didnt respond to the attempt to drag it off topic but those were my exact thoughts, that and the fact that every known protocol for planes being off course were ignored on 911.

if reagan could fix carter's mess in 2 years, Obama had better be able to fix it in 4... Carter left in way worse condition than we're in now. inflation and unemploymnent was double what we're currently looking at.

It happened during the Clinton Administration as well. When President Elect Obama takes office here in Jan. and we go seven years with no attacks on our soil, I will commend him as well.

Bush also acted afterwards about the threat of WMD's in Iraq, now people hate his guts. Imagine what it would be like if we dropped bombs on Afghanistan with only the sneaking suspicion that they might fly planes into the World Trade Center?

I think your forgetting the Anthrax attacks shortly after 911 that scared the crap out of america and enabled the republicans to mold the public mood into a war in Iraq. What fools we were to fall for all that BS. We are now paying the price in blood and treasure and I suspect any victory will resemble defeat even though we will say "we won".

We were indeed attacked during the clinton years. thing is Clinton wanted to attack Afganistan and it was the republican congress that wouldnt let him. The best he was allowed to do was launch missiles into the terrorist camps.

I dont hate Bush, i think i finally understand him now. He hasnt had the best of luck. He wins in 2000 but its by supreme court decision and 500 votes. The left thinks hes not the prez.

Then some aholes fly planes into the WTC. Then Anthrax. Afganistan and then the Iraq gamble. then no WMD's found. Katrina, loosing the war.... Finally the surge helps after some presidential cabinet retooling. Then he looses the majority in the house and senate in '06 then the housing bubble burst.... it hasnt been a good run for o'l GWB. Hes just trying to keep himself and the country above water.

I feel bad for him.... so much so i am willing to go to DC and help him pack his ****! UHAUL is on me!!

I understand the want and need to put the pieces back together again--that is not my issue. What troubled me about the apology was that it singled out "Black America" as though every policy and every practice was done with some nefarious intent specifically aimed at Black America. I reject that notion on many levels but worse still was the fact that one cannot apologize on behalf of someone to one group of people without being divisive. Blame Bush for Katrina, for the war, for global warming--hell, cast him in the role of the second shooter that day in Dallas, TX. But remember while so doing that for the past two years it has been a Democratically controlled House and Senate that has approved the funding for this war. President Bush might have the Constitutional authority to send troops into battle (though declaring war is reserved for Congress) but it was Republican and Democrat alike who have funded it. No funding = no war.

Still, thanks for the reply. I like that we can discuss things and that for the most part this group seems to do so rationally. Easy---I said for the most part. :)

Its nice you think you can speak for black america. In the climate after 911 dont ya think the minority dems would have got beaten up had they not gone along with the war in Iraq especialy after the anthrax attacks? and all the lies told by the Bush administration? lets be honest with ourselves.

55 and half million people voted for McCain. According to Obama, McCain=Bush. It's amusing to me that many posters on this site constantly refer and try to demean that many people and voters as being ignorant of the facts or stupid. A nation still divided - only the scenario has been flipped.

What color is the sky in your world??, you are comparing the legacy of the Carter administration to the nightmarish hell that 8 years of Hurrican George left behind??? Walk in the park for Reagan...
