Topic: The world respects you again America | |

The election is over, I highly suggest we give our "future" President Obama, the respect the office deserves; NO MATTER what our personal feeling are. As a "MOD.", I suggest the "crack pipe" & like remarks, STOP. Grow up & treat eachother as YOU want to be treated. I think many of the site members are getting rather sick of all these, seemingly childish, remarks. "Nothing GOOD to say to someone, DON'T say ANYTHING" MOD DOn ya because in America if you dont say nice things your not allowed to say anything. lol nah i know its forum privately owned. but i dont have to have respect for the office because he has done nothing to earn it and i believe our govt. is run by more than just one man so i dont say i hate him but its not about him its about my concern for my country. Do you know what a Mod is? |

Well to be accurate, Obama is president-elect. He hasn't served one minute as president. When he's sworn in he'll be the Commander in Chief. At that moment he gets the respect of that title. For now he's just another politician.

However i did vote for him so i cant complain to much He said he was going to raise the taxes of those making $250,000 and up by 3%. But..only tax the amount that they make over $250,000. He was also going to look programs over and make cuts where there was waste. |

Yeserie..the world can once again walk all over us... some legacy... considering that you still are in possesion of the greatest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction, I wouldnt worry too much about the "world walking all over you" ...the only ones who did (and continue to do) that are the oil and energy corporations. They got what they wanted, with their puppet Bush opening the doors for their unlimited greed.. Interesting comment considering that President Elect Obama was heavily funded by business. Among Obama's contributors, 5,845 list "CEO" or "chief executive" in their title, compared with 2,597 of McCain's donors, according to election records compiled by CQ MoneyLine. Hmmmm, good thing we got the guy who has your best interests at heart. One Obama myth down--many more to go. -Drew BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH YOU guys dont know when to call defeat dont you...................America has spoken so the rest of you sit quietly and eat an apple since no one wants to LEAD they just want to point fingers..............its takes a man to be a leader a strong man...........this means that most men are weak since all they do is complain like women and have nothing to say but BLAH BLAH BLAH.............WHY DIDNT WERENT YOU A CANDIDATE? Wow, I feel sufficiently chastised. So, when confronted with facts, your response begins with "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH YOU guys...."? As for why I was not a candidate, it's pretty simple. 1. I have no interest in being a candidate and 2. I would not want to become what one has to become to get people to donate over 600 million dollars. As far as sitting on the sidelines--no thanks. Many here complained and took to task President Bush over policies and actions (including me at times) so why would you expect different now? Finally, this is a forum dedicated to politics and current news and events. My point is, I'll post here about politics just like others do. If your response to a legitimate point is going to begin and end with "Blah, Blah" then I think it is going to be a long four years. The statement I made was not mean-spirited nor did it attack Mr. Obama. It was simply a statement of fact. That you don't want to discuss it is fine. That you acted like it lost significance simply because your candidate won is just sad. -Drew |

There does seem to be a breath of hope around the world with the outcome of this election.
I hope the United States can move forward, united, all people working together to rebuild a fine nation ... and I hope your new President will have the resources available to really make a difference for 'Joe Average'. |

i hope for a referendum to pass a law making public
officials personally liable for any deficit spending so we can begin to work out a payment plan for the debt they have recently racked up!! i have a small bill to present to ex-president Bush, our Congressmen and Senators, and the Judicial Branch... like Joe Biden says - it is their privilege! now that's what i call responsible spending!! |

You made a major step in proving the naysayers wrong. You've made a giant leap toward earning the respect of the world again America. Don't screw it up. how did we make a giant step? i am sick of everyone saying oh America you got your first Black president i am starting to be offended and i am not even black i think well thats nice and all but what about the peoples lives that he is going to affect and how will he effect them? not skin color wise i remember before every one saying we dont see skin color and ya it dosent matter but it sure dose now by seeing everyones commenets and the news... So with a bunch of crap in between, you've basically said that you're offended because we now have a black president. Honestly, I can kind of tell from other posts that that is your beef anyway. |

You made a major step in proving the naysayers wrong. You've made a giant leap toward earning the respect of the world again America. Don't screw it up. One can only hope....but you know how messy and jealious some can be ! idunno why any one would be jealous... Then you're not reading the threads...or watching the news. your right i don't watch mainstream media total brain washing by govt. sponsorship "clear channel" heard of em? now tell me why you think any ones jealous of our govt. or president? Dude...I'm not your guidance conselor...read and watch yourself ! lol your the one that made the claim not me. It's more proud. Other countries think we've done a good thing. Due to my job, I'm surrounded by many daily and weekly European publications that before, looked to be mocking us, and now, in the past couple of weeks and especially the past couple of days have been high fiving us. |

Over here the general feeling is relief to see Bush gone and that someone like him didnt take his place..frankly, there is a "wait and see attitude" to see how long Obama serves, we expect he wont be around for very long..there are several posters on Mingle that fit the profile of the lunatic fringe that wont hesitate to "take out the: (black, muslim, etc..fill in the blank) man".
Naturally I hope thats wrong, but just a sampling of what gets posted here is enough to convince me that the idea isnt all that absurd... |

I have worked for campaigns in the past including Jeb Bush for Governor and been a local member of the Republican executive committee. Since then I have become disillusioned with all political parties. I will admit that Dubya was the worst president since Jimmy Carter who before Dubya was the worst president of my lifetime. I honestly believe that McCain would have been no better in office than Dubya.
I think Obama is the greatest politician of my lifetime. The definition of politician for me is someone who is part magician and can hide anything by waving a wand, a skilled speaker who is able to lie convincingly making the truth pale by comparison, and lacking core principles to the point of being able to get things done while still sleeping at night. I wish Obama the best. He has earned the right to be where he is today. Those of you who are gushing over this election are naive. |
