When the second amendment was written there was no such thing as Uzi's and Hi-cap semi-auto pistols and fully auto rifles with 100rnd mags, silencers, night vision scopes and laser sights......just a thought You are correct, but none of them produce much more casualties than your average semi auto rifle. There are certain weapons that pose a clear and present danger to the people. (Like rockets, granade launchers, etc.) We split hairs when discussing the difference between an UZI and a semi auto, civilian version of an AK-47. Or a Hi-cap full auto pistol and a 45cal 1911 model. They just try to spread FEAR so people will be wlling to give up their rights. Remember 9/11 and the "patriot act"? Or the Oklahoma city bombings and the "terrorist act". The previous economic collapse and the "Economic Stabalization Act". We need to have a bit more faith in each other... But i do see your point, and it is a valid one... |

But i do see your point, and it is a valid one... These differences are extreme. How about this. A pump action rifle or shotgun versus a submachine gun. But this is not a fair question. I've been in several fire fights. I would be more afraid of a shotgun than anything as most people become flustered at the use of the weapon, therefore their aim is usually off. UZI's either rather REALLY small bullets or they kick too much to keep steady. All circumstantial. As i said ealier i do see your point. Now see mine. You asked me which i would be more afraid of. This means i need to base a decision on emotion versus logic. Logically how much difference is there between a semi auto and a full auto. Or what about a semi auto and a shotgun. You limit one, then they find an excuse to limit another. Little by little we will lose our second amendment. Then will we have NO safeguard for citizen's rights. As i mentioned earlier, if i could take the place of the next unarmed citizen that gets killed by a gun, i would. But i can't. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little safety for freedom. If you wanted to sacrifice freedom for safety, 1. Make unhealthy food illegal. If you want to eat MCDonalds you have to have a special permit. 2. Make it manditory to do at least 45 minutes of cardio every day by law. 3. Make it so you have to get a permit to smoke a cigarett. 4. Tighten restrictions on swimming pools, making people sign a release for random (24/7 ) inspections for safety precautions on them. 5. Get lax on the 3rd amendment to prevent illegal searches and seizures. Then, MAYBE then, you can logically start limiting our right to bear arms... Until then all these pose a greater risk than firearms period. Let alone semi auto firearms, or full auto firearms... |
