To believe in anything, we as humans have to have some sort of reference system. To believe that the color red is red, we must be taught that it is. To believe in ourselves as being something other than an animal of the forest or field or air or sea, we need something to compare our self to. Since we seem to be the only creatures on earth capable of doing as we please, rather than what we have been taught, or what is instinctive, we almost demand of ourselves that we come from a higher form of being. This is just philosopy, hope it helps more than confuses!

nobody can't tell anybody to believe.
that is a silly question per se. a belief is a personal choice that a person has to have in light of his/her experiences. so as far as to believe or disbelieve people can do as they wish. the problem comes when because I believe i want to attack those who don't believe or because I don't believe I want to attack those who believe. Both of these are fundamentalistic positions on either side, based upon a egocentrical and arrogant position, and not in a true and honest experience of life. |

Religion is man made.....
God is not....... Believe or not to believe that is the question..... what the heck ya got to loose......... But ohhhhhhhh man what you could gain........ Knocking Here I am standing At the door of your heart Won’t you let me come in? And flood light where there’s dark For I have been knocking For such a long time Don’t leave it much longer To become a child of mine I just want you to know That I love you so much And can fill your heart within That once was starved of love So please don’t delay In responding to me For I may not keep knocking And I have not a key! I will never force you To open the door It’s all up to you, my friend To receive me as Lord |

Please tell me why I should believe in religion, better yet god? not trying to offend anyone just a question? My answer would be: "There's no reason to believe in anything; belief is a choice, not a necessity." I know that goes against a lot of established, um, BELIEF (lol!) but if you think about it for awhile you will see that there's truth in that statement. yours in Chaos, Scarlett |

Well said Scarlett...Belief is a choice.
A personal one at that. That's why no one can do it for another. We have to find out what we can wrap our heads around, what is true meat to help us in our lives...what is the keeper of a kind meek heart & sense of humor in spite of the hard times. |

Please tell me why I should believe in religion, better yet god? not trying to offend anyone just a question? You should only believe what you choose. Believe from experience. Don't believe any religion. jb |

Please tell me why I should believe in religion, better yet god? not trying to offend anyone just a question? Can you be a tad more specific. You say "religion". There are many forms of religion and spirituality. There are also many Gods and Goddesses. Was there one in particular you were eye balling? Hmm? |

look into the beauty of the world
look into the vastness of the universe look into the existence of consciousness try to tell yourself - that you or we are the measure of it all and you may come to the conclusion that to weigh the infinite requires an infinite scale a yardstick to stretch to the beginning of time |

Believe in yourself. jb sure! it is a small start. but the world is a little bit larger than a group of self-confident individuals... Its a good place to start. It is the foundation. By having faith in "my self" I am speaking of my higher self who guides me and my life. I don't have that much faith in my little self, as I am too undisciplined. But I'm getting there. |

What is a man who believes in nothing. If you believe in nothing outside of yourself, how will you ever be able to value anothers life just as much if not more than your own. The world doesn't revolve around any one individual, for if you die, it does not stop. At least I haven't noticed it yet. But your world can revolve around another. Why I love God (or more specifically Jesus Christ) is that he has shown me love for others I could have never reached on my own. I'm selfish, I know this. I could care less what happens to you or yours if it's not my family or friends. Or so that's how I used to think. But by my believing in something greater than myself, that I'm a creation with a creator, ie the Lord, I have been blessed with a love and happiness for others successes, and a deep pain for their misfortunes and loss. For I believe they hurt just as I hurt, and they experience joy just as I do. And if you try asking yourself what you are here for, and you never figure it out, you may just end up becoming upset and giving up. I'm reading the book, A Purpose Driven Life, and the first part of it deals with the fact of how will you ever know why you are here. Did you create yourself? Just like if someone gave me a pencil, how would I know what to do with it if the one who created it didn't first tell someone. Ask the Lord, and in accordance to his will, he will show you why you are here, and will give you something greater than yourself to believe in. But as they have been saying, only you can make the choice to believe. Noone will be able to tell you to do it, unless you give up the idea of you being in control. I'll pray for you to find your way.
what is a man if he gains the world, but loses his soul...... |

Why do you think you needed Christ in order to experience "real love"?

Why do you think you needed Christ in order to experience "real love"? Christianity is the only religion that offers that. I am not cutting down other religions, but if that is what you are after, that is the only one you can go with. Also,I think people don't need religion in general, they just need to believe in something. Only one religion can be universally correct or right. They can't all be right, or some be right and some be wrong. Philosophically there could only be one universally "right" belief. You just have to try to figure out what that is. I will admit, I am still trying to figure it out. |

Christianity is in fact NOT the only way, or the correct way or the only spirituality. You are in fact "cutting down" other religions because I seriously doubt you have investigated many others. The reason I suspect this is you probably would not be making such one sided comments if you had in fact researched other belief systems. I myself have a difficult time finding mercy, compassion, forgiveness and true love associated with such an intimidating, dogmatic and oppressive monotheistic religion. That is my personal opinion of the faith based solely on reading the bible and communicating with various Christians both online and in person. |
