alter what you think about them? and to what extent does it alter your perception of them?

I just had a face to face debate with someone about this topic.... and it didn't end well....

I dress what I think is appropiate for diffrent occasions.I get a little annoyed when a person thinks they have to wear the most expensive name brands all the time

Humm well I must say one that dresses different we all tend to look at them a bit different.

If someone was per-say had several piercings goth look ect to the extreme. Yeah I tend to look at them longer then normally and wonder what in the world. Honestly I would not date someone like that but......... now as friends I could handle that. JMO

But now once I get to know them I still would not date them but I would be honest with them. I don't have a problem with ones that do I just don't see myself dating someone that creates that much attention. Like I said friends are different. JMO

give me the run down of what he said if you can remember.... Cuz the person I had the discussion with "claims" to be liberal, but the views he expressed today were clearly NOT.

I'd have to say yes, it does. There was a guy at work the other day that I'd never seen before. He had on a shirt that had al capone, larry hoover, and jeff fort's pictures on it, and it said "american gangsters". It lead be to believe(I hope to be wrong) that he's a banger. Because I know that al, larry, and jeff are/were gang leaders.

What i have found out and this is only my opinion. People that have less money to dress well seem to appreaciate things more then people that have money to dress well. So they'er for, i tend to have a opinion mind to who they are then to how they dress.

I believe that perception is cultivated through dress. Unfortunately, perceptions can be very misleading. For many years I have worked as a Paralegal with the ability to dress down on days where court is not a requirement. I have noticed complete differences in the way I am treated and dealt with depending on my mode of dress. The bottom line still remains...it's all about what is inside the person than outside. That being said, there are minimal standards. If someone is trying to simply "buck" the system and be a renegade, then I guess some of what is being displayed on the "outside" is being directed from the "inside".

I think it depends. With what I do, if someone came in say for an interview with a "certain look", it wouldn't work in my office or field. It some perceptions, it really does matter. But, as far as dating/social goes, no, doesn't matter to me a bit, as long as they're clean and don't smell funny
