A heart felt wish from one sevice member Mom to another best of luck and strength to survive this. (((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))
I wish everyone that reads this would take a moment and stop something that you may not be aware of. At one time if you were a service member you could count on two things. One your mother would be respected and to display her pride in her childs service to country did not subject her to harrassment, vandelism, intimidation and discrimination. She was treated with dignity and respect and if she gave the ultimate sacrifice she was revored, protected, and even assisted by the community in her old age. Same for elderly father's. Recieving a Gold Star Mother award was publiclly lauded; not shoved under the door like so much junk mail. Second if a soldier had a family that sacrificed to be with him and support his often duty first demands they were given decent and respectable houseing and world class public education in DOD schools, and PX priveleges that actually meant something. Now they are forced to live in slums, sometimes in little better than flop house motels for months, and attend schools that should have been condemend. A VA loan is a joke and they are stuck buying bottom of the market houseing then being forced into bankruptcy by builder's that build identical house's new and buy back their defaulted morgages pennies on the dollar when they are shipped out to the next duty station or discharged where there is little or no non-military employment. PX's are rarely a savings over Walmart's and are getting fewer and father between as more and more bases are closed then handed over to corporations and cities who are making millions off of converting them for enormous profit. What is even sader is when these families end up more or less destitute sometimes with profoundedly disabled heads of household that are forced off the base even when it does exist to live on top of parents that risk being evicted for giving them shelter or worse. I personally don't know this lady but I have the feeling that she and her son are world class people and deserves the love that is echoed in this room to be echoed in the community at large. You have the power to do it with a letter, email, phone call, hanging your flag, and making your vote count for what you beleive in. Thanks. I believe in my Mingle pals and I believe in America supporting our military families when they know what is going on. |

First..thank you to all who have written to me and my son/sons.....
Lance Corporal Thomas Brett A. USMC...
Will be leaving later tonight for Kuwayt.. There for possibly a week.. then to Ramadi Iraq....til May.... His hearts leaving his family....
especially his new bride..married Sept. 6,2008 The reality has come...... Me....I thought he was leaving Thur... I don't know what is happening.. I feel like shock....quiet...want to be left alone.... But still standing and doing things that need to be done... Spoke with Brett 3 times today....lots of I Love You's.. His phone will be shut off when he leaves tonight.. So I can't reach or hear his voice..... 
hmmm.....I love you my first born son....be safe... Honor, Respect, Strenghth... Semper FI..to the Love of My Life... To those of you who believe and Honor the Lord Jesus Christ.... Pray for my son...

What a wonderful message you left...
but how tragic to know of the sad state of affairs
this world is in... the harsh reality of things
and people with their priorities all screwed up... 
I was just talking to my Mother this morning... 
and we were talking about her day ,
during the Depression and during World War II... when American Patriotism was so strong and when people revered and respected & appreciated & took better care of our Military Troops
& their Families...
I pray for a renewal of our love and respect
for our troops...
and for their families...

My prayers are with your sister, Repunzel.I know exactly what her feelings are. My son just got home last Saturday from Iraq. It is a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach when your child gets deployed. My heart goes out to her.

and i can only imagine the pain parents feel

but i left them at her home,
being that I am out of state now
and using the library's computer
I will bring them next time...

Having been in the position of protecting the boots on the ground a few times, i will tell you one thing for certain, and that is your son is in good hands, at present my duties are something else, but i can assure you of one thing; when your son is looking for support from the air, it will always be there
