1775: Founding of the Marine Corps A legacy is bornDuring the American Revolution, many important political discussions took place in the inns and taverns of Philadelphia, including the founding of the Marine Corps. A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore. The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines. As the first order of business, Samuel Nicholas became Commandant of the newly formed Marines. Tun Tavern’s owner and popular patriot, Robert Mullan, became his first captain and recruiter. They began gathering support and were ready for action by early 1776. Each year, the Marine Corps marks November 10th with a celebration of the brave spirit which compelled these men and thousands since to defend our country as United States Marines. |

If this goes through this time...(my son being deployed)I will most certainly be asking for lots of support. I am a great big sissy when it comes to Jay. I can't even think of him far away. We are connected at the hip. He says we are wired just alike. Kat Kat |

& I could be an Auntie to all the Guys & Gals who are in the Service ...okay?
My own Son
 has a very rough demanding job ! too
and even though he is not in the war zone overseas...
 he has to deal with wars & strife on the road over here
being that he drives a concrete mixer
in very crazy insane traffic
and is often gone and on the road
 for 14 <long & hard > hour days
soooo..
i have lots of reason to worry about him too....

Hello Journey.. How are you? Haven't forgotten you.. You are always in my prayers and my heart..
