What kind of an Alter should I have for Samhain? I would appreciate any help so I can plan getting things ready.

First of all, welcome to the thread! flowerforyou As to your question about altars, there are no rules about what kind to have. It's a completely personal decision and has to do mainly with what you are going to use it for. Since there are so many possibilities here I will tell you about mine.

On my everyday altar (I set up a different altar for ritual)that I have set up all the time I have a Goddess candle. I burn black, red or white depending on the moon phase. I have some salt, crystals, sea shells, a pentacle, a small picture of the Triple Goddess, a large picture of Hecate, a small cauldron and my Goddess ring. At Mabon I added some miniature pumpkins. I will usually add "decorations" to it that change with the seasons.

Again, altars are very personal things and there is no "wrong" way to do it. It really depends on the purpose of the particular altar as to how you will set it up.

Thank you Ruth that does all make alot of sense and I thought that it would have to be of course more of a personal thing...on that night, we will bring love into the picture in the name of the Lady and her Lord and I look forward to that with my beloved. But again thank you for your words and I am glad that you have this *thread* where like minded people can gather and share ideas, stories and wonderful information.

Blessed Be my loves:heart:

I read em too but I put mine away several months ago. I got tired of being told the same thing over and over (dang cards wouldnt quit nagging at me)

do you think it really is accurate online like this? I always kinda felt that the proximity of the querent was kinda important

I haven't found it a problem to do them online. I have a couple people waiting ahead of you (I just haven't felt well enough to do them the last 24-48 hours) but you can email me your question. flowerforyou

Good morning all! flowerforyou

Just want to tell you guys that I'm not sure about keeping this thread going. As of late I have been receiving some "not so nice" emails and this morning I actually reported one. The one this morning really shook me up. Anyway, I know you're all going to say "screw him" and just keep going, but I'm not so sure.

People these days are so closed minded. But your right I'm gonna say it.. Screw them! Let them live in their own little perfect, safe world. Keep the thread going an have fun with it... don't let them get to you.. laugh at them knowing how closed minded they are. I don't always agree with some of the believes of Wicca but I'm still open to learn more about it. Let them talk an think what they want. JMOflowerforyou

Sorry to hear that Ruth but I wouldn't worry about it. There are always going to be those types regardless. What I truly find refreshing about Wicca and many of the Pagan spirituality is that they are not forced down people's throats as being "the truth" or the "one way to salvation". If you are interested, there is plenty of resources and outlets to explore and then you are free to make up your own mind about it. Thats fair enough and also insures that these faiths tend to attract intelligent, thoughtful individuals. I truly find that refreshing.

Speaking of the Druids, I found this website the other day. It wasnt exactly what I was looking for though interesting nonetheless. They were yet another fascinating Celtic spirituality that predated Christiandom. It was created within Celtic society around 500 BC. The ancient Celtic people populated Gaul (later France) and the British Isles from 900 B.C. to 700 C.E. These were a people of nature. At the height of their society at around 300 BC there were hundreds of independent Celtic tribes.
